[T6] Alpine iLX-F905D Halo 9

Doing a 60 day trial on Tidal and at £10.99 why wouldn't I to get access to Hi-res music.

Anybody know if my assumption is wrong. if i play Tidal through Apple Carplay I will not get MQA max streaming quality. I need to remove Spotify and Tidal from Carplay, play Tidal direct on the Halo11 and use the dedicated map icon on the headunit to gain quick access to Google maps via Carplay when my Iphone is usb connected.

If i am correct then having Tidal on the Halo 11 means you get a better sound but lose the benefit of map and music integrated via Carplay wireless.

Ergo: if i dont know where i am going settle for less quality audio and if i know where i am going MQA everytime:)

Liking TIDAL on the Halo 11 but through use of the wifi and iphone hotspot set it is not as stable as TIDAL through Carplay at the reduced quality. Anybody share my experience and have found some hacks?

both routes feed off the same signal but the inference is that either the IOS hotspot processing or HALO 11 wifi processing are sub optimal in performance. The wifi connection takes longer than the Carplay connection

You need the following, on top of what you already have

twin fm phantom aerial adapter
dab aerial adapter
dash usb retention kit

if you have factory parking sensors, then you need a different interface to display them
Now you you made me realise I must have the wrong interface as well. In the black Friday sales I got a halo 9 at a very good discount with the connect 2 fitting kit. Went to look to install it today and was blown away with how many extra wires and adaptors needed.

So looks like I'm going to need a USB retention for my T6 it's also the one with the 3.5mm jack above the USB.

Then I need my rear parking sensors to be able to work so guessing I need to buy another fitting kit

Lastly how do i know if my van had a built in GPS antenna or if I need to fit the alpine one.

Drop us a call and we can run through the correct parts and fitment , no issues with the USB, you need a Alpine interface to retain the parking sensor display, OE mic

Hi all, just checking details on the specific Alpine Connector Kit, as I can see a few listed..

It looks like there is a base connection listed in some places as KIT-7VWX303 and in others KIT-HALO-VW303. - I’m going to guess these are exactly the same (the 7 reference looks to original relate to their 7” screens) ?

There is a KIT-HALO-VW303DU mentioned too, via dynamicsounds.co.uk which includes as extras an OEM USB Socket Retention and a `Male Fakra to SMB Female Antenna adaptor`. (It looks like those two extras cables/adaptors are important (£60 extra for them))

Is the above kit (and or extra parts bought separately) everything that’s going to be needed (along with the unit itself  ) to upgrade the stock unit in a basic T6 102bhp/T32/LWB/2TDI ?

Hi from Australia,

Uncertain as to where to place a whole bunch of questions however, reading all the juicy info in here I thought this may be a good place to start.

I have just purchased a whole stack of ALPINE Audio gear and aiming at a self install...I live quite a ways from any knowledgable installers or VW specialists...I hope someone can offer up any additional parts I may require based on the specs below:

VEHICLE: Transporter T6 SWB 4Motion 2018___PR CODES 7X7-Park distance control in rear plus rear view camera system & 7UP Navigation system MIB2 Standard PQ (EU/ROW)...no mods at all i.e. all standard.

ALPINE AUDIO Equip (Cheers Santa)...SEE Image below
Head Unit = HALO ILX-F511A
Front Speakers = R2-S65C 2-way (woofers and tweeters)
Rear Speakers = R2-S65 2-way Coaxials
Ampliifier = S2-A36F 4 Channel 360W RMS
Subwoofer = PWE-S8

Ok, so I watched the Adv. In Car Tech. Youtube vid on the the Halo 9" install and am aware that they utilised the Alpine installation kit...I've been struggling to find the exact same kit in Australia until I discovered the newest version APF-X303VW which is sold by some retailers here ("UART Can-Bus Interface – NEW Model" as per AICT website)...I also downloaded the specific Quick reference Guide from the Alpine Europe site and had a butchers...SOOOOoooh!, is this the right kit...? What additional parts MAY I need (If any) to ensure a happy Plug-n-Play install...i.e. retaining most of OEM functionality...? I can purchase the Fascia surround kit here so that takes care of the cosmetic/mechanical install part + all RCA leads, speaker wire etc...I reckons I got this...just need a little help along the way :-) TIA

I’m afraid Your alpine ILX-F511a is not compatible with the European APF-X303vw interface , it uses a idatalink interface instead

Thanx for the reply @Absolut5, to clarify...I will be purchasing the APF-X303VW interface from an australian supplier...excuse my potential ignorance, does this make a difference...? The supplier said all good (over the phone) and, a quick Google search indicated "Yes, the Alpine APF-X303VW interface is designed to work with compatible Alpine head units like the iLX-F115a in Australia, provided the vehicle is within the supported Volkswagen platform (MIB-PQ) range"...the alpine Halo head unit is the "A" model, not the "Ai" model...there was a couple hundred bucks difference when purchasing...hoping you could further clarify.

Ok, pull the alpine looms out of the box and take a look to see if it’s got a small 4 pin black plug with purple wires , if so all ok.

I had an owner from only last week from Australia with a unit and that was idatalink.

Ok @Absolut5, I believe i found the right one...2 violet wires (purple I guess) and 1 black wire into 4pin square black plug...labelled CONNECT2 I/F...does this look like it is the right one for fitment...?

Moving forward after many beach activities and humid here in Oz land...now onto additional parts for speaker install including speaker wire, RCA cabling and connectors...it's a slippery slope...can anyone please advise on the correct spade like "Quick Disconnect" terminals for the stand alone Alpine Speakers (i.e. not bundles like you guys are lucky enough to have over there)...

I have measured the MALE (Width x Thickness) terminals/tabs to be:
+ Positive = 5.1mm x 0.5mm
- Negative = 2.8mm x 0.5mm

Above sizes same for R2 Coaxial and R2 Component speaker sets.

So i just need the FEMALE parts (recepticle) for 16AWG speaker cable...are they just the buy of the shelf types...? I'm after a snug fit for the +/- terminals and was just hoping to get more advice...maybe i'm over thinking/Googling...?
