Now you you made me realise I must have the wrong interface as well. In the black Friday sales I got a halo 9 at a very good discount with the connect 2 fitting kit. Went to look to install it today and was blown away with how many extra wires and adaptors needed.You need the following, on top of what you already have
twin fm phantom aerial adapter
dab aerial adapter
dash usb retention kit
if you have factory parking sensors, then you need a different interface to display them
Cheers as per dm will give you a call next week. Thank youDrop us a call and we can run through the correct parts and fitment , no issues with the USB, you need a Alpine interface to retain the parking sensor display, OE mic

I’m afraid Your alpine ILX-F511a is not compatible with the European APF-X303vw interface , it uses a idatalink interface insteadHi from Australia,
Uncertain as to where to place a whole bunch of questions however, reading all the juicy info in here I thought this may be a good place to start.
I have just purchased a whole stack of ALPINE Audio gear and aiming at a self install...I live quite a ways from any knowledgable installers or VW specialists...I hope someone can offer up any additional parts I may require based on the specs below:
VEHICLE: Transporter T6 SWB 4Motion 2018___PR CODES 7X7-Park distance control in rear plus rear view camera system & 7UP Navigation system MIB2 Standard PQ (EU/ROW)...no mods at all i.e. all standard.
ALPINE AUDIO Equip (Cheers Santa)...SEE Image below
Head Unit = HALO ILX-F511A
Front Speakers = R2-S65C 2-way (woofers and tweeters)
Rear Speakers = R2-S65 2-way Coaxials
Ampliifier = S2-A36F 4 Channel 360W RMS
Subwoofer = PWE-S8
Ok, so I watched the Adv. In Car Tech. Youtube vid on the the Halo 9" install and am aware that they utilised the Alpine installation kit...I've been struggling to find the exact same kit in Australia until I discovered the newest version APF-X303VW which is sold by some retailers here ("UART Can-Bus Interface – NEW Model" as per AICT website)...I also downloaded the specific Quick reference Guide from the Alpine Europe site and had a butchers...SOOOOoooh!, is this the right kit...? What additional parts MAY I need (If any) to ensure a happy Plug-n-Play install...i.e. retaining most of OEM functionality...? I can purchase the Fascia surround kit here so that takes care of the cosmetic/mechanical install part + all RCA leads, speaker wire etc...I reckons I got this...just need a little help along the wayTIA

Thanx for the reply @Absolut5, to clarify...I will be purchasing the APF-X303VW interface from an australian supplier...excuse my potential ignorance, does this make a difference...? The supplier said all good (over the phone) and, a quick Google search indicated "Yes, the Alpine APF-X303VW interface is designed to work with compatible Alpine head units like the iLX-F115a in Australia, provided the vehicle is within the supported Volkswagen platform (MIB-PQ) range"...the alpine Halo head unit is the "A" model, not the "Ai" model...there was a couple hundred bucks difference when purchasing...hoping you could further clarify.I’m afraid Your alpine ILX-F511a is not compatible with the European APF-X303vw interface , it uses a idatalink interface instead
Ok, pull the alpine looms out of the box and take a look to see if it’s got a small 4 pin black plug with purple wires , if so all ok.
I had an owner from only last week from Australia with a unit and that was idatalink.
