T6.1 floor heating up!

Hi,

after slowly advancing in a long queue for about an hour (DSG 4Mo with stop-start switched off) I've noticed significant heating of interior floor - especially rails - were so hot, one couldn't step barefoot on them.

I was told, that this has to do with cooling of gases for AdBlue system, which is installed below the vehicle.

I still find this quite unusual; any ideas ?

Normal as the heat sheilds and exhaust are directly below.

Normally driving along and airflow cools everything.

Or start, stop will bring on the cooling fans if doing a regen.

Ok, thanks for the response. So it is beter to leave the start-stop on in that case, although the air-con in also off during that period. Can any long-term damage (material overheating or similar) occur if start-stop is off in that case?

shouldn't do in normal conditions.

But its worth getting the van up on some ramps to check all the heat sheilds are intact.

A missing, damaged or bent shield could be a problem..... possibly bent and touching the exhaust.
