Stop/Start module

Can anyone recommend a seller for a stop start override device? There appears to be loads on eBay and Amazon and don’t want make a mistake.

It’s for a 2018 150 T6

Thanks

I used AgKaiAoAutopate on Ebay for my 6.1.

A Chinese seller. Item arrived in 10 days and was perfect. UK sellers are reselling the same item for a 200% mark up.

As an aside I was watching a youtube vid last night entitled something like definitive proof that stop/start seriously damages your engine. They (German engineers) were using a customers T6.1 and continuously stop starting with a computer programme for days/weeks. And then stripping the engine after to show the obvious damage to the big end shells. Anyway im speeding through what was actually done. But it further solidified it for me.

The same German engineers that designed the Adblue system, or who came up with the BiTurdo motor munching EGRs? Yeah, they know their stuff.

I've suspected this for years, that's why I've disabled it on every vehicle I've ever owned that's had it fitted.

Pretty obvious really.
Shut down kills oil pressure on a spinning turbocharger, exacerbated by boy racer driving style and unbalances DMF.
Start up strains battery, wears starter motor and flywheel gear ring, unbalances DMF and oil pressure delay wears engine bearings.
What’s not to like.

I’ve got one of these in a box upstairs, I need to get round to fitting it then I dont need to manually press the button every time.

You mean it’s not just a setting in the menu?
Must admit it very rarely kicks in in my T6.1 so not something that’s really bothered me but I just assumed there’d be a button like on most cars?

Not an option in the MMI menu, as it is probably an emissions requirement. But there is the button on the dash, which can be pressed to turn it off. however it defaults to on again next time ignition is cycled. Hence the little dohicky in line with the switch that people add. 5 minute job.
There are quite a few parameters that need to be met for Stop start to work, so things like a slightly discharged battery etc will mean it won't work.

There’s a super easy and free trick to disable stop start, you just unbolt the little black box from the neg terminal from the starter battery, the ecu cant see the state of charge and it no longer works

Does that have any other negative effects? Like keeping the battery to 80% or affecting voltages so dc-dc chargers not functioning properly?

Dont forget if youve got OBDeleven there is an app for disabling start stop
Do you know how it disables it? Or can it be done with VCDS. In the last van I disables it by changing the temperature below which it doesn't come on to 28C.

I've actually got one of those little in line plug in things somewhere indoors that I took out after trying it. As somebody mentioned above, it only took 5 minutes to install but my problem was that it interfered with my Autowatch Ghost 2 immobiliser. I fitted the device and then went for a test drive to a local supermarket for some shopping but when I went to restart the engine it took 4 attempts with the correct button sequence to get it going. I drove home, took it out and all was OK again so I then refitted it and had the same result as before. After that it went into a drawer never to be seen again. The disarming sequence did NOT include the stop start button and I don't know enough to say why the engine started after a few attempts rather than first time as usual but I've learnt to live with stop start now. That said, I'm going to see what Carista will do for me later on.

A bit ironic that Ghost owners are pushing multiple buttons to start the engine but pushing the single Stop / Start button is a chore.
I push the button without thinking about it when I start the engine, about as intrusive as putting a seat belt on.

If what im hearing is correct (one of my new neighbours has my old job on the autocrime team) the thieves aren't even doing that much. Someone's either cracked it, or installers are lazy/been instructed to wire it exactly the same way each time. Either way, vehicles with itmfitted are still going walkies nationally.
