Help identifying a cable by battery

I took my van for a new battery under warranty as it was struggling to start. The auto stop/start was working but sporadically. However, since the battery was changed, it now shows an error on vehicle status "error: auto stop/start".

Scanning with Carista shows the error U105000 - Battery Monitoring Control Module: No communication. This has only occurred since the battery was changed. The dealer has said they need it back for the day next week, but I had a look and I noticed there a wire that's not connected to the battery.

Before I go connecting something I shouldn't, can any identify the cable and if it would be related to the auto stop/start not working and the error code above?

My van has that wire connected to the battery treminal - It does stop the Stop/start from working if disconnected.
There is another thread on this forum about it.

The sensor on the battery will not account for the power the tracker is using.....
Hi @Dellmassive

thank you very much for your input and advice,I stand guilty too, as I had wired a tracker in across the battery terminals. So I have moved it as advised this morning.

However there is another wire attached to the neg terminal. Is it advisable not to have any attached?

I haven't put this here, or any knowledge at the moment what its from. I can explore this myself or I'll go and ask the previous owner as he had a lot of work completed on the van.

thank you for all your advice and knowledge sharing on here, very much appreciated..A

If it’s not factory then it shouldn’t be connected directly to the battery

Many thanks its the brown wire to the nut......(also a small box with a brown neg into it)...

Off the top of my head he has had : Lazer front lights: Internal rear ceiling LEDs: Alpine audio kit under seat and extra 12v and usb supplies in the rear.

I can pop and ask him, hes a really nice guy and very helpful with advice. He also told me where he had work done on the van, also local and very nice guys.

But any advice appreciated....more importantly knowing why not to do it in future, as it wasn't something I even contemplated when I put the tracker on

Cheers to all

Just to feed back, I reconnected that cable and the error went away. S/S still barely works still, but there's no longer a status message saying it's erroring and there aren't any error codes showing on a scan.

The van will need 10 drive cycle it's so to recalibrate the power system. ... Keep calm and drive.

The stop start will kick back in when it can see the starter battery is fully charged.
