For Sale Standalone ESP32 BLE Battery Display for Victron Systems

There is no easy solution for the power button on the simple mount design (so it still requires poking the button with a thin object from the hole in the side to switch the ChargeScreen on). The mount can be screwed to a wall / surface and the 3.7V DC power cable passed through the rear of of mount as illustrated in the pictures below.

The ChargeScreen is “friction fit” into the mount, which provides an easy and secure way to permanently mount the ChargeScreen in a vehicle.

Also do you have the STL File I could have for this one please?

Hi Andrew,

Not so much of an idiots guide, I will try and help out where possible.

Step 1 - Power the device. - You can power via USB-C or from one of the rear power cables.
If you use rear power cable, you need to press a reassessed button on side of the device to get it to boot.

Step 2 - go into menu, - 3 dots on bottom.

Step 3 - Enable Wifi

Step 4 - find the wifi hotspot named ChargeScreen, - you can use your phone or mac/pc.
The hotspot hopefully will automagically open up the page, but if it doesn’t - the address of the device is http://192.168.4.1 - enter this into a web browser.

Step 5 - Select the devices you own, after you select the devices, if the device needs a key, then it will spawn a box to enter the key.

You can get victron keys as per the image.

Step 6 - Click Save at the bottom of the page.

Thank you. Perhaps I should have been clearer that I meant an initial load of the .bin file onto a brand new device; Since I posted I've got as far as getting the code to compile under PlatformIO, and I have a device to play with on its way from AliExpress. But I see on GitHub that you've now decided to go closed-source. That's a shame.

Thanks. Yes, the repository is now source-available up to v4, with development from v5 onwards being commercial.
I'm currently at beta version 8.

I won't be producing a guide for flashing generic AliExpress boards, as that would effectively be documentation for reproducing the product.

If you'd like a ready-to-use device with ongoing firmware updates and support, they're available from ChargeScreen.

Sorry about this decision not being as you wished.

Gary

Are you saying the version 7 will not be able to be downloaded in the future? You will offer the download for a fee? I still see it available so I'm confused.
Thanks bud

Not at all.

The firmware itself will continue to be available to download free of charge for ChargeScreen users, just as it is now.

The only change is that future source code will no longer be publicly available.

This is simply to protect the project from being copied or repackaged into other products.

If you own a ChargeScreen, you'll still be able to download and install firmware updates as normal.

Im not surprised the latest isn't free. The owner has put a hell of a lot into this now.

It has been something I've thought about for a while, to be honest.

How many weeks ago was it that I introduced this to the forum as something I made, and I wasn't sure if anyone else would want it?

Since then I have tens of people per day contacting me about it.

The firmware itself will continue to be available to download free of charge for ChargeScreen users. The only change is that future source code will no longer be publicly available.

What started as a small hobby has grown into a small business, and I wanted to protect the work from simply being copied and resold by third parties.

The firmware binary will still be available, and I've also added ChargeScreen branding and links within the firmware to make it harder for copies to be passed off as the original.

ChargeScreen units are still available as before:
ChargeScreen: £40 + postage
Rear power cable: £4.50

I'm also planning to host the excellent 3D printable enclosure design by DWiskow on the website, so it remains available to the community.

I should have at least 50 screens in stock next week, with more arriving shortly after.

No worries. Clearly I had misunderstood your intention in publishing the code. My ESP32 device arrived today, and I can successfully build 4.16 onto it, but not upgrade it to the published 7.06 off the website.

By using a sticky magnet (like you can use on your phone) on the back of the screen to hold the screen in place (so it removable) would this create any issue with the device

No, I can't see it being a problem. Be good to see photos of how others have it mounted.
