That's distressing - can they fix it as looked like a big ass spike?

If not console yourself that at least you're not going to have uneven wear like if it happened 5,000 miles in. It's not much help, but ...

National tyres said too big however everyone else said yes so it went back to the tyre fitter who is my trusted VW mechanic who will take to his tyre specialist. I have said to replace the tyre with a new one so that I dont have any stress on my cross Europe 4000 mile trip whilst running very heavy and then it will go under the van as a spare IF it can be fixed so I will have a similar rolling raduis

new tyre on the van. Puncture repaired and fitted to a spare Davenport and squeezed under although it wouldn’t fit fully inflated.

New reverse lights are fab.

Oh yeh and the knight rider style led on the back however it runs to start then is static.

Realised I hadnt updated this in a LONG time....... quite a lot happened and mostly not Shuttle related....

We bought a small house in Italy and I took a nice road trip.....quite loaded up with stuff not knowing how long I would be there as various DIY jobs required.

1764876818583.jpeg

Had to set up a dedicated cold air feed to the back

She is an awesome traveller, takes it all in her stride.

1764876787765.jpeg

I stopped over at mates house in Zurich and then drove the rest of the journey the next day. I got stopped by Swiss customs and asked if I had anyhting to declare and I just said "only my love for your country" which made her laugh and then she asked why I had so much stuff : I told her I had an old house in Italy and was going to do some refurbishment and she just went "good luck". It was funny.

With Tetris Genius level skills it is amazing what you can get in...

Glass bottles of fizzy water dont like being left on the black seat in a black van in the 40deg heat. No damage done.

Amazing sunsets

1764878059550.webp

then it all started..........

The wife caught a low wall.

1764878112861.webp

then shortly afterwards this idiot couldnt see the highly illuminated van that was ALREADY on the roundabout and just pulled out ripped the bumper off along with other damage. Wife was driving again.

1764878170126.webp

some bodge it repairs kept it on the road without any major issues other than aesthetics. On the upside the Italians really noticed it and kept out if its way.

1764878489688.webp

Picked up this sofa from a delivery depot from IKEA. They laughed when I arrived in a Transporter saying it wouldnt fit.

1764878593345.webp

I was really glad I added various extra brackets on the floor and had nabbed some additional middle singles as it really opened up our seating options and changing room for the mountains.

POSTED A LOAD MORE ABOVE If you want to be bored.

Found a local place that would let me take some pallets for a project. The Italians either sell them or cut them for firewood.

side access to our water tank is down a nice slope and so is the rest of our garden and olive trees etc. So she has to get dirty and work.

For the eagle eyed this is obviously on the wrong side, however its from a LHD Shuttle (Caravelle) and works perfectly on the third row as I had various extra brackets when in the UK originally for a set of twin singles.

Safe to say the snow season was officially over.....

1765025569981.webp

However I nabbed a "last run" on what was very very poor icy hard packed rubbish.

1765025614603.webp

then it was on to sunnier climates with a road trip to Croatia to go sailing with my Slovak "brothers". I'd never been sailing before so was a passenger so to speak.

1765025699259.webp

Still plenty of bugs in Europe - return trip from Pescara, via Rome, Florence and then to Zadar and back.

1765025713202.webp

then I had a trip to Uk to collect another toy.

1765025792539.webp

Quite impractival to visit anything so we took the "support Shuttle" and used this as a base in the mountains,

1765025834948.webp

2nd October brought a very unexpected snow dump in the mountains that disappeared as fast as it came. We hadn't even started to collect our olives as none of the olive presses had even opened.

Left the day before as was "ready" to go and nothing to keep me behind. Whilst Flexiplus is expensive when you live right next door it makes sense as allow me to be quite reactive to how I am feeling so insted of going to bed early and not sleeping properly and waking at 4am for the first train, I just got a train the night before.

1765027247716.webp

Was forced to stop prematurely in France when the freezing fog hit. This was the temp from something like 2am!

1765027401523.webp

I couldnt see much and it wasnt fun so I stopped very early into my journey and just rested in the drivers seat for a few hours, started again for another hour then gave up for a much longer rest.

Bit of a clean and is nice to have the front end looking all fresh again.

1765027560430.webp

I had added those Autobeam switchable fog LED's after seeing them on here when doing the repairs as the halogens one had melted one of the fog units when was knocked in the accident.

Santa band welcome wherever I go.

Eventually got round to fitting my dpf led beeping warning thing from the guys in Poland. Can’t seem to make the link work.

It’s just sticking out for now as I test it out. Went off today and I was like wtf is that beeping and then I saw the led lit up like Rudolph’s nose.

So got on with a few overdue jobs today......

Had to go down to the water shed:
1765298253550.webp

DPF warning light and beeper - bought from here: DPF Control

Turned out to be pretty expensive as I paid to have it shipped to Italy and gave them the wrong address and so it was taken back and they had to pay to ship it back and then I had to pay to ship it AGAIN. Well I guess at least no import taxes. UPS couldn't be bothered to make a phone call to the number on the docket.

Plugs into the OBD port and has a short wire leading to an LED. It behaves as follows:

As standard, the device emits the following signals:
1) One short beep -> information that the device is active when the ignition is switched ON [LED blinks once].
2) Two-second series of short beeps -> beginning of a DPF regeneration[LED will light up].
3) Three medium length beeps -> end of a DPF regeneration [LED will go off].

Additional device functions and their signals performed with ignition ON (IG ON):
A. Press the button once -> you will be informed by sound and light signals about the soot mass in your DPF filter:1 beep + 1 LED flash = 1 gram of soot
B. Press and hold the button until you hear: a. the first short beep -> the device will clear all DTC’s from all car ECU’s and will confirm this with a longbeep [LED blinks once]orb. second short beep -> you activate the so called "silent mode" i.e. normal operation of the device without any information via beeps but only via the LED*.*To DEACTIVATE the ‘silent mode’ follow the same steps as in B b, i.e. press, hold and release the button afte rthe second short beep.

I drilled a small hole in the unused swtich blanks to the left of the steering wheel then used a pack of Sugru to hold the led in place from behind - it has a ridge on it so it wont push all the way through from behind.

1765298184746.webp

1765298192879.webp
1765298212420.webp

I managed to catch a video and even got round to uploading it for you lovely people - DPF Control Video

THEN I got on to adding my red LED and puddle lights that I got from @saxoboy back in January 2023 :p:p:p:rolleyes::p

Holes cut - I used the new stanley blade method as mentioned by someone else and stupidly sliced the bit between my thumb and finger wide open when I slipped.

1765298814588.webp

1765298820947.webp

I already have footwell lights and use the connections for my Knightrider LED strips so I discarded all the wiring on the puddle light kit except for the connector and the red door open just has the connector.

1765298874820.webp

I ran a new cable through the drivers bellows and across under the dash to the passenger side footwell light where all my other connections take place.

1765298884077.webp

Then I did the same on the passenger side and voila almost three years later.................

1765298952179.webp
