Evening all, long time viewer and first time poster. I had been looking for the right spec van for around 6 months and eventually found one that fit the bill in the summer.

I wanted to do a few bits, nothing major or anything that you guys won’t have seen before but it’s been good working on a mini project!

Overall the van is pretty good - I guess the theory is not to go for a camper conversion just a tidy (ish) day van, but still good for a trip to the builders merchants on the weekend.

I was planning on replacing the front seat with a bench but after some research it looks like it’s in the all too difficult box with dropping the tanks and airbag replacements etc

Anyways pictures are more interesting that words of a northerner…

Got rid of the chrome grill trims and a quick clean

Made a start on carpeting and insulating in the rear - I went with the kiravans set up and can’t complain, good products and handy guides readily available

I went for anthracite carpet, THQ tartan cover for the panels and vandalised black suede is going on the roof.

Generally it seems a good product but there are a few things that really do let it down. Any advice appreciated but most seem like poor design decisions to me;
- rear slide windows leak, they really should have this sorted by now
- they removed the auto footrest from the t6 - why?!
- the interiors light switches are not illuminated, so you can’t see the switch when it’s dark
- on the dsg lever they’ve just moved the lhd letters so you can’t see them, they should have been on the right hand side of the gearstick surely. Every new driver driver seems to struggle seeing where P R & D are
- the mirrors fold on the key (when lock held down) but don’t unfold when unlocked? I had planned to put puddle lights in the bottom of the mirror. But not much point if they won’t unfold and shine down
- rear seat (2+1) rattle, yet to investigate but it’s really irritating
- rear heater, I don’t really see the point in it. The plan is to get rid of the shuttle panel that covers it and make some better use of that space

Next up will probably be changing the roof lights, ovano table and swivel base

Over and out, Adam

Footrest and DSG letters are because the RHD market is not important enough to VW.

Nice looking van

And everything else is because the private buyer market is not important enough to VW.

Howdy - if you ever get to a stage where you are getting rid of the 2+1 rear seats, give me a shout. I am seriously thinking about replacing the 3 in 1 I presently have. I have no idea how difficult/easy they are to swap, I think it needs fittings cutting in to the floor and possibly a new floor mat so may not be worth the hassle, but a 2+1 or 3 singles is my ideal layout.

Im not unfortunately, they do seems to come up for sale every now and again. I’ve seen them anywhere from 1-1.5k. I think you’ll have to add some floor brackets
