Hi, thanks again for your help, I got in touch with a local VW specialist (not a dealer) who said that because my vehicle is 2017 VCDS will not work on it. Apparently later vehicles must use vag's own software ?

VCDS works perfectly well on my 2017. I'd go elsewhere.
Latest version of VCDS works fine on our MY18.
Maybe they arnt using a Genuine lead and software.
Bashed cloans are a waist of time.

Just thought I'd add this in here, looks like the modules are different on mine and the wording is different
Did it work before?
What do you get on the screen?
Got any pics? Or a vid clip?
Have you tried a radio reset? (Press and hold left rotory knob until boot screen....20se or so)
Assuming it did work before I'd go for a hard reset.....
Disconect the main battery for 30mins..
Or do cap discharge..

I’m trying to get someone mobile and local to me to sync my (after market) 3rd break light rear view camera to my head unit.
My local Vw dealerships hasn’t go a clue and the recommendation they gave me can’t be bothered
Any recommendations as I’m losing the will to live.

Depends what area you are in and where you travel, check the members map to see if you have any VCDS users in your area
@Absolut5 deal with everything ice/electrical plus @Eddcameron and @MAT@VWT5UPGRADES are retrofit guys so anyone of them should be able to sort you out

My apologies I should of put a post on here explaining that indeed we did have communication problems at the beginning.
Also you did come out to where I was working and did an excellent job with the camera and yes you very kindly did the job free of charge to which I was very grateful.
Mainly just overjoyed the camera worked.
I would have no Hesitation in recommending you to anyone, I already have to several people.
Once again many thanks for an excellent job
