Price of diesel in your area?

Shell. Shooters Hill. V Power Diesel. £1.99 per litre. Don’t effect me as only ever put £20 in a time in my Sportline. …….I wish 😳
Was on fumes. 75 litres £150 ish 🤦🏽

Just had a quick march to the supermarket and learnt several things on the 3 and a bit mile journey….

Costco had its usual Saturday/Sunday queue for fuel already (not normal for a Friday night). Glad I was walking as it causes chaos on the road.
Esso is still one of the biggest rip offs on middle earth (after printer ink and mini eggs).
Sainsbury’s were selling diesel at 161.9 ppl but… none left by the look of it. Little bloke putting those yellow plastic cock finger-blockers on the pump handles.
The fuel prices (and apparent shortage here and there) isn’t stopping anyone - in fact the roads seemed busier than usual and there are still a decent proportion of drivers blatantly ignoring the speed limits (maybe they’re just giddy because it’s Friday night).
Only six fellow pedestrians to say hello to in a city of just over 300k people on a fairly mild and dry evening ☹️

Are you near Dawlish Warren, we'll be there Wednesday camping and trying to cover all bases for the return trip to Northampton?
Depending on how much cash we have left we could possibly take 10 litres 🤕 as at least that gets us back a bit nearer to the home of Rugby Prem leaders The Saints... yes it's really a post about the lads in green, gold and black smashing Saracens again!🥸

Some people who’ve paid 50 - 70K for a steel shed on wheels worried about being ripped off for fuel?! :grin bounce:
Come on you Saaaaaaiiiinnnnnttttttssss.
Thankfully our tin box had already had one life (hard) as a panel van so half that top valuation guess and that was 8 years ago... there must be an expenditure curve where the value of the van falls and the rising cost of fuel climbs but it feels like it was back during the COVID period rather than this current blip.

For the first time yesterday I passed a supermarket with no fuel (Sainsburys in Bradford). Probably because it was the cheapest in the area at 1.65.

I am starting to get a bit twitchy as I am due to setoff on a week long roadtrip to the Isle of Arran/Scotland next week.
Doesn't also help that the CalMac ferries keep breaking down.

You should be ok in that the UK has diesel stocks lasting up until mid-May or so. Obviously very difficult to predict the price though, next week could equally well bring a sudden outbreak of peace or a spiralling ground war with significant damage to energy infrastructure.

£1.88 in my local shell
£1.77 in Sainsbury's half a mile up the road
Yes, round here the difference in cheapest (excluding Costco as you need membership plus you’ll sit in a queue for half an hour burning though any saving) to dearest, with the stations within a mile of each other, is 18ppl for standard diesel… and yet the petrol retailers association claims, with a straight face, there is no profiteering going on at all.

Mmmh, chinny.

Chatting to the bloke filling at the opposite pump to me. In Coldstream as it happens. He was complaining about the price. I said "my van weighs 2 tonnes, if he could push it the 8 miles down the road that 1L of diesel takes me I would happily pay him the £1.69 I was about to spend". Still not quite sure why he declined.........

I notice the price of premium diesel rockets higher during these times too.
Not long ago it was 9-10ppl more than regular. Today it was 24ppl more at Shell and others seem to be at least 20ppl more.

If he had an e-bike he should have taken you up on the offer. Charge it for a few pence then use the rest of his winnings to put towards diesel for his car.

I stick Archoil in my van every fill. Converts normal to premium (there's a bit more goodness to it than that but I like it).

Just had a look and assuming it does what the manufacturer says then this looks like a bargain.

The 500ml bottle is almost £16 and equates to 6.25 full tanks (assuming the 80l fuel tank) so £2.55 per fill up.
Meanwhile, now premium fuel is at least 20p dearer per litre, filling the fuel tank with that adds a £16 premium over standard fuel!
