Renewal time again, Just Kampers have come in £20 more than last year, and that includes a years tracking subscription, £485 all in.Right. So it's that time of the year where the Tax and Insurance is up for renewal.
Purchased the Van in 2022 and went with A-Plan/Howdens at what I thought was a decent price of £400.
2023 renewal quote came through of £480, 20% increase and I could live with that as I couldn't be arsed with all the faff of changing insurers, fast forward to an hour ago, another increase of 25% taking it to £590, same old waffle about inflation and what not, they didn't take into account depreciation of the vehicle, for them to consider that I need to get a requote, go figure.
Got a few online quotes from page #1 of this thread and:
Now just got the hassle of getting Howdens to send me proof of NCB.
- Motorhome safeguard came in at £470
- Just Kampers @ £710
- Within 10 minutes of receiving that quote I received a call from JK, got put through to their underwriters and lo and behold they quoted £465 and that includes them giving me a tracker and the annual subscription of said gadget.
Yeah I don’t think the comparison sites are worth bothering with unless it’s a stock van. I must have spent about 5hr calling round. Annoying but all but 1 or 2 had to refer to underwriter to get a quote due to value and mods. Often the same underwriter but I guess different contacts so often with different terms applied!LV refused to renew me in June. Comparethemarket, gave 1 option Stirling at nearly £6000, or £500 + a month. Eventually after seeing on here Howden, insurer KGM, Kenneth ? McNeil. for £555 for the year. But excluded the wife as too old.
So far (mine renews in June too) LV keep letting me renew despite them not accepting new campervan policies (I believe) for quite a while now.LV refused to renew me in June. That's not like Greenlight usually, I just got insured for my T6.1 with all mods declared and it was £460 for me and my partner. My insurance is up on the 13th and I’m currently with Greenlight but haven’t received there renewal yet so gave them a call today and was told that they would look into it and email me in a couple of hours, asked if I could get it as soon as possible as I’m out the country next week when it’s due. Four hours later still nothing. Called A-plan twice today and still waiting for a call back as all the advisors are busy. Brentacre have phoned me with a price after I filled in there online form but won’t email me the quote. Hell it’s hard work insuring a T6![]()

Just done 1 comparison through the meerkats. Looks like premium is down 22% from last year. Not complaining.

LV were still the best price by far for the renewal of my van insurance this summer. Will be checking LV Monday as they were competitive last year. Direct Line / Brentacre don’t like me because of postcode.
