Over 1 million uninsured drivers now in the UK and the government setting up the motor insurance task force is hopefully having an effect.
Same price with commuting added. Fair enough!
I can never fathom the pricing.
I need commuting and business travel on my vehicles and as you say adding or taking stuff away sometimes makes no difference whatsoever. Business use added over a hundred quid to one vehicle and literally £3 to the other.
With the motorbike getting quotes with one, two or no insurance approved security devices also made no difference depending on what option you went for first.

I've worked in the insurance industry for over 20years now. Don't try to understand it or even make sense of it, you will never succeed.
But when you do have to speak to someone in a contact centre, remember they aren't getting paid enough for you to shout at them. They are often working with out dated systems and aren't authorised to apply common sense.

.Well stone me! After literal decades without claim and still no points on my licence… for the first time in as long as I can remember my renewal quote is lower than the previous years premium!

To be fair certainly the car and bike virtually doubled last year so it’s probably in line with what it should actually be - insurers seem to have lost their sheeeet last year paying ‘partners’ £300 a day to a hire Fiesta and writing off nearly new vehicles with a scratch. Maybe Government telling them they were harming the economy hit a nerve?

Well, according to go compare my next cheapest option is Adrian Flux but they do three packages and even the basic is £110 dearer than LV for me.

Me too. And with the camper, a car and a motorbike it happens too often.I reeeeaaally hate insurance time
The multi vehicle policies don’t seem to cut it for what I need either so I can’t get it down to just once a year.
i did a spot of tyre kicking on quotes last week and a quote from a more expensive company last year is 20% down. So it's promising at least.

My Aviva renewal quote is down 15% (£705) on last year (London based) and the others I looked at were all more expensive, some over 1500, the cheapest was 750. I do have a replacement van and Euro cover added. Just glad it hasn't increased. May/June is always Tax, MOT, Service, Insurance - so an expensive couple of months.
OK, here we go, it's renewal time for me; I have a T32 DSG 2022 SWB that has been converted from PV to Kombi with windows, carpeted in the back with lights, USB, etc. VW 18" option wheels, updated front bumper and a leisure battery (it's not a camper). I commute to work once a week, it is garaged at night, I do approx. 5000 miles per year and only use for social/leisure apart from the once a week commute. What recommendations do folks have please?
Make a cup of tea and hit the phone is my recommendation. Insurers and brokers defy logic, and the known laws of physics and commerce are stretched beyond credulity between them, so the only way of knowing who will do you a good deal is to hit the blower and ask them.
Howden, Flux, etc, are a good place to start.
Just make sure you tell them of all the alterations and additions otherwise however much money they take off you they will refuse to pay out should you need them.
Do the leg work and ring around.
