The smoking gun here is the right rear wheel speed sensor.
I removed the rear wheel and removed the bolt holding the sensor and tried to remove it but it was stuck fast.

I sourced a replacement from @Pauly and set about the repair.

As I suspected, the old one broke off!

Therefore, I had to remove the caliper, disk and backing plate to get better access to effent the removal.

Next it was in with the dremmel;

Then a bit of heat to soften the plactic;

Then worked it out with grips and a bit of levering with a small screwdriver;

Cleaned up the port and installed the new one;

Refitted everthing in reverse.
The lights cleared as soon as the ignition was next turned on, but I cleared out all the fault codes anyway as the VCDS was connected.

Job done!

Interesting one. Wondering if the ACC saw some discrepancy in ABS data earlier. Then ABS decided finally to raise the fault confused.png. The mileage/date stamps in ACC are earlier than in the ABS.

Thanks for sharing, I'm getting a similar fault intermittent on mine the last month, its only happened a couple of times and clears when the ignition goes off and back on so I guess its this unit failing.

Had the same thing on my t5.1 rear right wheel sensor.scanned with VCDS
Replaced the sensor (was stuck in well) but now ok.

Thanks Loz. I’ll take a look and remove the bolt, if stuck I think I’ll take it to a local garage!

Thanks again Loz. I had the same problem, it snapped off. I did manage to release the stuck bit without dismantling the brakes though. Had to reset the codes with Carista afterwards.

Auto Distance Regulation System(aka ACC) is the most fussy one out of all.
It always complaints first.

For future reference, I've always just heated up a nice fat screw with a blow torch and pushed it into the broken off bit then quenched with cold water . Claw hammer or vice grips to pull it out. Never failed me yet!

Ei-Aprilia, good tip. I’ll try that next time.

Anyone know if the part numbers are marked on these sensors?

I’m not sure what to replace my faulty front right sensor with, but will try and remove it tomorrow and investigate.

also, do the brake parts (calliper, disk etc) definitely need to be removed? I’d rather not.

If it's an original sensor then the part number will be on it.
OEM sensor on mine was ATE. I replaced it with a febi.
No need to remove anything. You can probably do it with the wheel still on but easier to remove it for better access.

I replaced a rear one recently - failed 2 days before we were departing for France.

SWMBO picked one up from Euro Car Parts and I changed it in my lunch hour, well 50 mins (its a 5 min walk from/to work).

Faults all cleared and fine ever since.

One loom plug & 1 bolt, nothing else to remove (on the rear anyway).

There is another thread about the topic on which I posted.

Hey lads. New to this forum.
I have a VW Golf. Sorry i know this is a transporter forum but having done many a Google search i keep coming back here due to similarity.
My golf is a 1.2 Tsi 2013 MK7 golf.
2 months ago while driver all these errors came up. Car was in drive, would not accelerate. Had to pull in, put into park, would not come back out of park. I will attach screenshot. Eventually got going after disconnected battery. It has happened intermittent more than 5 times since. Once i needed a toe. Been to 1 mechanic and an 1 auto electrician and they couldn't tell me the root cause.
Battery is only a year old and had been coded.
I believe it is a wheel speed sensor as many people have had same issue with same faults. Error auto hold, error tpms, error parking brake, error esc.

Can anyone please help as i need my car and the uncertainty of issue returning while driving is very scary.

Did the mechanic or electrician give you a complete scan of the car? That should be the first step. The faults stay in car memory so they don’t need to be active while taking the scan.

While the symptoms sound like a wheel speed sensor issue it could be something else as well. Intermittent nature would point to bad contact.

Hi, they did not, mechanic said there is a mountain of faults, could be this could be that but doesnt have a definite root cause. Auto electrician said he would have to see it in real time as it happens not from the memory.Problem is when it happen car needs a toe if cant clear by disconnect battery this only works sometimes. And by time is off toe truck fault may be gone. That happen me once. Fault there, toed to mechanic fault gone.

If you look in Loz's first post, any fault with the wheel speed sensors will be recorded and does not need to be 'seen in real time' . Codes 0087, 0089, 0095 and 4199 all reference the Rear Right Wheel Speed Sensor, there will be equivalent codes for the Rear Left, Front Right and Front Left sensors so it will be easy to work out which is causing it (if it is a wheel sensor fault)
The sensors on the Transporter are the same front and rear, so you 'could' buy two sensors, change each one out for one of the new ones (assuming you don't have to destroy the originals getting them out) in turn and see if the fault clears when the faulty one is substituted for a new one.
Do you have a Halfords near you? They can read fault codes and should be able to tell which sensor is faulty.

CAN network gateway:
131703 - Lost Communication with TCM

Engine:
04718 - Lost Communication with TCM

Besides the above also the ABS faults 32870, 8222, 8226 indicate communication failure with the transmission. The same is true with ACC faults 1027, 1028, 0284.
Note: probably engine fault is actually 4718 - Carista seems to mess the codes by padding them with leading zeros.

None of the fault codes suggest anything wrong with wheel speed sensors.

Fisrt you need to fix the powertrain CANbus communication issue. I would start by checking the connector and wiring at and around the DSG for any signs of corrosion.

Please post complete "Detailed ECU info"-report (under Carista Service menu).
