AS @Dilbert said. Due to the thing and the thing meaning lots of people are turning away from those bahama and costa del sol beach holidays in favour of a tiny tin thing on wheels (me and my dad included.. albeit, before the thing took hold of our daily lives..) and looking at some grey rocks on a grey day in grey wind with grey water and grey... (thinks of the song blue and just replaces the word blue with grey.. sums up the uk... hahaha) van. yes the van is grey also. Must blend into the uk scenery, ofc. Green and brown would also work though. haha
i digress - everyone is slammed.
Youll be very lucky to find anyone (decent) who will have one in time done for you by, i reckon feburary next year...
Like i said, the staycation thing was taking off last year anyway (political implications assumed.. and known) and things have just taken a vertical skyrocket off upwards.

There is also grey curb and grey road in your photo.
You have gained extra grey Mark's. Smiley grey sticker for you XD
Points deducted for blue sky and sea.
This is not grey.

Afternoon,I purchased a panel van around 4 months ago, initially bought to use for fishing but have since had second thoughts as it’s just too nice to use for that.I toyed with the idea of selling the panel van and buying a combi but to get one the same year (2018) is quite a lot more than what I will get for the van.I am after a rough guideline on price to do it to my panel van, totally new to all this so most of the work would need to be done by somebody else, thanks in advance

Removal of bulk head is easy so a diy

windows - have a look at camperglass website. Van Windows & Van Glass | Tinted Privacy Van Windows | Camper Glass for a price on aftermarket windows

rear seats - depends what configuration 2+1 or 1+1+1 - eBay for seats and bracket prices then look on the forum sales for a deal. Fitting is about £500 ball park

kombi original rear mat - £200

Rear seat belts- allow £150
You will get someone on here selling the full kombi interior

Brilliant thankyou, how much would I be looking at for it to be fully carpeted through the back, and would be looking and changing the front passenger double seat to a single,is there an option for a make shift bed to use in a combi

Changing over a seat is simple, just undo the bolts on the double and use 4 on the single, the hard part is spending £800+ for the seat !!

I just carpeted my panels so can’t help on the cost for a full carpeting but have a go your self plenty of videos on line

There is only me and the mrs so can actually do without the row of seats behind but would still want it carpeting as would use it for days out,not got a large budget so any suggestions on little bits I could add to make it a little more luxurious...

As jimc91 has said there are plenty of online videos about carpet lining. Coombe Valley Campers have helpful videos. My wife and I insulated, sound proofed and carpet lined our T6 during lock down. It took a bit of time and head scratching but it worked out really well. We got the stuff from Harrison Trim in Yorkshire but there are plenty of suppliers out there. I couldn't have been too traumatic.......we've just started doing our 35 year old T25 panel van.

I’m in the middle of a very similar project. It really does depend on how much you are willing to tackle yourself. Windows and floor brackets are not an easy job if you’ve never done anything like that before, and it’s definitely better to be safe than sorry.
As for sound deadening, carpet lining and flooring like the guys said above there are plenty of videos online.
I was quoted anything from £900-£1400 for a full lining package, minus the floor.
you can readily get the materials yourself however it is time consuming, but very satisfying once done. Also spend a bit more on the sound deadening and cover as much of the van as possible. The difference is huge.

We can do the whole job for you form start to finish, if you what a quote just fire some details over on our contact form on the website.

Contact some of the build companies like Leighton Vans and Bognor Motors etc, always good for brand new take off standard parts, I got a full set of brand new alloy wheels and tyres for £550 delivered, brand new standard T32 springs £50 delivered ..............

I’m thinking about buying a T6 kombi and saving up to get it converted (by a company) rather than going for the conversion already done.

Has anybody done this process before and how did you find it ? Did you save money ? And how much was the conversions you seen? I have had a look about and can see them between 15-20k.

thanks.

Hi Craig, The beauty of speccing your own conversion is that you get to choose everything! From the layout to the components and finishes and the finer detail. This can come at a hefty cost though so you have to work out what's important for you and what will work for you at this particular moment in time and what budget you have.
You're in the right ball park with costs for a basic set up I would say, but there will be compromises to be made somewhere im sure. I paid quite a bit more than that but I wanted the very versatile Reimo sliding seat/bed system. You need to do lots of research and visit several converters and go with your gut feeling on who you think will best serve your needs and not necessarily the cheapest. They are all really busy atm, especially the good ones!!
My conversion wasn't about saving money...more about the right base van and the right conversion for me.
Good luck mate!

You can obviously choose between converters but be aware that some converters don’t like / won’t stray from their standard range.
If you do persuade them to do something different you will probably pay a premium for their ‘risk’. The good conversion companies are always busy, probably 6 months plus wait, if you find one that can fit you in at short notice be very cautious.
IMO you should run the van for 6 months before converting, if you’ve bought a lemon then you can avoid spending a small fortune on a conversion.
