CAAB long time to start

Hi all,
I have a 2016 hi-line CAAB 102 engine with manual 5 speed box. On about 42k miles.

Sometimes it cranks up to 5seconds before it starts from cold. Other times it’s starts fine.

No faults with Carista.

I’ve read it could be the battery, starter motor or high pressure fuel pump.

Battery was replaced by the garage when we bought it about a year ago, with a Yuasa 9000 70ah 760A.

Has anyone had this before?

Are there any tests I can do?

I’ve not noticed any other impacts when it does it, A/C off makes no difference.

It still does it when the battery has been on charge over night, and the van was used the day before, so it’s not been sat.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Can you get a video clip or a good normal start... And a poor start.

Then post a link I. Here via your online album or YouTube.

Assuming it turn over at the same speed it might not be battery or starter related.

First thing to do is scan for codes.

You need Carista, obd11 or vcds to start.

Or

Hi, thanks for the reply, no fault codes with Carista.

The video is a good idea, I don’t have any at the moment but I will start recording it every time I start it from now on and report back.

Could be leaky injector causing low fuel rail pressure.

Or poorly hpfp causing low rail pressure.

But you would need something like vcds or other to log the fuel rail pressure when cranking on a. Poor start.

Some info here

Looking at that data the fuel pressure should be at 200bar when it’s not running, is that right? I just checked mine and it’s between 155 and 165 on Carista (can only get live data, can’t log it) it’s been sat about 6 hours.

I can’t see any leaks around the injectors.

Looks good... A quick Google shows the same price across genuine units..

Cheaper ones are all fakes and should be avoided to ensure correct data capture

Ok thanks for confirming, I think it’s worth getting when I get paid. I’m a bit worried this issue is the HPFP 😬

Just a thought but how old is your cambelt and has it been checked recently for wear/tension ?
It could explain why there's no faults on Carista.
I'm probably wrong but I have a Kombi the same age and the last belt change fixed a problem with occasional hunting whilst idling, apparently it had a worn tooth.

Thanks for the suggestion but we had the cambelt done just after we bought it last year by a main dealer
