You only need to hold it down until they start to fold, not until they're finished folding.

Once the indicators flash again to acknowledge I release the fob button.
But it would be better if they just auto folded
My Black Edition folds it’s mirrors on locking, think I did it using Carista when I first got the van. I really can’t see why VW didn’t do this from the factory.

I'm trying to build up a list of mods I intend to do using either Carista or VCDS so I can then decide which to buy and if it's Carista get them all done within that first month they give you :-D
Carista can do it, as can VCDS and ODBEleven. I did ODB11, and there are instructions somewhere further up this thread.
@drinfinity and @colinsunbeam could you give me an idiot's guide on how to get my mirrors to fold on lock rather than my current fold on long-press lock...?!
I'm tearing my hair out on this one!!
I'm currently in a T6 '18 plate Caravelle (which had fold on long-press mirrors factory fitted)

Ah OK - seems this function is only available on the T6.1 - I'm in a T6 until VW pull their finger out and build my T6.1

From what I understand the module has a version/model number printed on it.
Fold on lock is not possible on any T6 unless you fit an aftermarket module
OK - apologies for my misinterpretation in that case! So fold on lock is only available on T6.1 and even then it's a VCDS enabled option?
Yes, not sure about T6.1, it maybe configurable through settings on the dash

Finally managed to sort out something using VCDS on the new van. Mirrors folding on door locking rather than the long press: 09 - Central Electrics Click security access code (input 31347) Click Adaptations Search for modus then select the lower of the two options. Then Do it.
You might also find that the same long hold also puts the windows up, which is handy.
