Bought my van last week and it has VW 17 inch wheels, it's at the converters and I am considering lowering it 30 mm. I know lots if links to 18.19 and 20 inch wheels. Has anyone done this on 17 inch wheels and if so any pictures of the end results would be appreciated.

Wow, that is a prime candidate to swamper. Keep it as it is with big 4x4 tyres, and the VW arch kit. Comfort, cool, and practical as a Camper.

Bare in mind it might sit lower at the back once it's been converted, so wait until they've done their work, before purchasing any springs, but you might find if it still sits as it does in that picture once fitted out, that 30mm might not be enough to level it out.

There should be quite a few 30mm spring/17" wheel pictures, due to many owners running Devonports, or the standard 17" GP Steels, and 30mm is a common mod because VW offer it at point of sale.

Edit that’s how it was on standard springs and 16 inch wheels

As mentioned above, it may have a good idea to wait until it is done to see how it sits. Ours was low at the back and dreadful to drive with little traction. After some research it seemed the best way to level was to fit adjustable coilovers. I think ours is lowered about 50mm as a result on 17" steels at the minute. IMG_20181112_140056629_HDR.jpg

Thanks for the replies, good advice and I will see how it sits once converted.

Looking at various pics it seems like the 30mm springs actually give a bigger drop than 30mm???

I’ve got a set to go on my Kombi at some point. What would be a reasonable cost to fit? I’ll most likely use a local specialist rather than the main dealer.

I believe that I paid my local main VW Dealer £385.00 + VAT to supply and fit. My local specialist converter, (who did around £5000.00 of work to the van) quoted £115.00 more.

Supply and fit about £460 inc vat from VW, which will keep warranty. No doubt cheaper elsewhere
