National Trust Eskdale in the lakes. It’s great.
I thought it was, we stayed there years ago before the NT owned it great area if you like walking stright off site or want to get the train down to Ravenglass
Better late than never! Camping Orio was great but very busy. We took a 2¢ half hour train journey from there to San Sebastian (trains all very clean and bang on time!) - never been there before but now wonder why not as it was great. The old town is packed with bars serving pintxos and drinks various but we stuck with a couple of (very) local ciders which only come in very small servings (as I’ve got older, my taste for dayight drinking has diminished). We also managed to scoff some Basque Cheesecake but didn't know until afterwards that the bar we got it in (La Vina) was apparently ground zero for it. From San Sebastian we went back to the campsite as the weather turned from mostly sunny to very overcast and blowy before the rain set in for most of Thursday. Mind you that all meant surfs up so some were very pleased.
We're now at Camping Les Ourmes in Hourtin for the weekend. Much quieter and very nice. The excellent restaurant (Le Patio) we ate in last night didn't have any cider but the excellent local beer was a worthy substitute.

From Hourtin, we've moved onto Camping Les Saumanards just outside Boyardville, Ile d'Oleron for a couple of days - it's currently very quiet and a great municipal (I think) site in a large pine forest with lots of cycling / walking trails - it's a very short walk to a huge sandy beach and a slightly longer stroll to town with a great choice of eateries mostly majoring on fish. We've been here many times over the years and it always make a good stopover or even a longer stay if the weather's good. Rather than do a 50Km drive back to Bordeaux only to come back on ourselves, we drove down to the mouth of The Gironde and caught a ferry for the 6km sailing over to Royan and from there it was a much shorter run to where we are now and I can feel a large crock of moulds calling my name from the harbour tonight. The first pic is from the ferry to Royan and the second our current pitch:
Camping Haliotis, Pontorson, good for Mont St Michel and St Malo which are both worth a visit.

As for Quimper we stayed at a site in Concarneau nearby but I can't remember the name, Quimper was a decent place with a big river through the centre that was lousy with big carp.
That whole area, not sure if it's Finistere is like a French Cornwall, very nice.

We had a fair amount of rain yesterday as we headed south from the tunnel. Today has been dry though. The trick is trying to get the big ones off before they bake on, once they have dried, they require a flapdisk to shift them.
Here's a thing though... What do people use to clean their windscreens when they are away from home? I can't reach the middle third without some sort of sponge on a pole or a stepladder.

Grab hold of the rear edge of the bonnet and stand on the front tyre.
I once fell backwards onto the ground where I tried to stand on the top of the wheel to reach the middle of the screen to clean it.
Pretty stupid as it's quite difficult to get the shoe in the gap let alone pull your trainer back out as you fall backwards, proper out of control moment luckily on gravel.
Not the actual moment but on here...
