Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Staying 4 nights here at Salen Bay. Got the drive-away awning up now, so not moving. Hopefully not blow-away 😬

Headed out of the dales as the weather was slightly better in the Lakes so currently at Castlerigg farm Keswick. A lovely site with great facilities and views, no extras (£29/ night)and walks directly off the site perched above Keswick, a short walk away. Returning to the Y Dales on Saturday (Giggleswick area) to catch the good weather Sunday and Monday,

Great site, stayed there with a few friends last October & the walk back from the pub in Keswick through the woods fantastic 😁 with a good couple of torches. You are almost in the same spot as I was 👍

Drove down Loch Na Keal, to Fionnphort and Fidden Farm. Didn't spot any otters or eagles unfortunately - just lots of sheep & lambs (and a few coos)

Lovely drive & not too busy on the roads, which are in much better condition than on Skye last year. The single track roads with plenty of passing places are quite fun, but whilst I love a friendly wave from fellow T6's, I must admit by the end of the day I was getting a little weary giving a "thank you" wave to literally every passing vehicle (including the fellow Autohaus Ashton '94 from Ingliston a few days ago!) :mexican wave:

Wouldn't bother with Ingliston for a stopover on the way north if I was doing it again; I'd keep going a bit further and stop at Luss or Tyndrum, or just go straight to Oban.

Spent 2 nights at Oban Holiday Park. Not recommended (Will post a review in the campsites thread later). Nice enough location and very handy for Oban though.

Beautiful day today in Oban, and a perfect crossing to Mull - no issues with schedules, in fact since we arrived at the port early for our booked 12:15 sailing, they let us go on the 11:25 instead.

Now at Salen Bay Campsite for four nights. Lovely site, great pitch with amazing views, very friendly staff and spotless facilities. Happy Days! ☺️
always use Tymdrum for my stop over

Nor as exciting as any of the foregoing but I drove just a few miles to the outskirts of Gloucester to have a chat with 360 Automotive about servicing now that my final All-In warranty has expired. I've never used them before but they are indepedent specialist with a good reputation in the local VW community so I thought I'd give them a go for my next service, brake fluid change and MOT and have booked in for mid-July (it's a fair way off but I get to say exactly when rather than work around their vacant slots). FWIW, they can also access the VW service history system (whatever it's called) to read and record work done. I'll report back on the experience in due course but they certainly seemed to talk a good game.
While waiting to talk to someone, I winced when listening to their conversation with another guy whose Transit wet belt had let go and they seemed to be discussing a potential bill circa £8-9K. The bloke on reception told me that they had seen a few of them recently which was potentially bad news for future T7 owners!

Round the top of Mull today, via Calgary Bay and Tobermory.

Still no otters or eagles, but what I think was a kestrel (no expert, it had upturned wingtips) glided along beside the van for about 20 seconds before landing on a fence. I was able to stop next to it, but it flew off before I could get a photo.

Now watching the sun set over Salen Bay, where a colony of seals are basking on a rock on the other side.

Love that site, especially the walk into town.

Had planned to go down to the Black Forest, looked at the weather last Friday and realised it was not worth the risk. As we hadn't booked anything we went to the CAMAC Malvern Hills site which was very good. A large site for us and full but was very peaceful with good walks and a good pub. She that the weather on the Isle of Wight was good all week and have spent 5 nights at Appuldurcombe Holiday Park. We stay here every year and I can't believe how quiet it is. The stay was £240 including ferry booked direct from Red Funnel. Can't recommend this site enough, it's immaculate and you can walk to Godshill.

Stayed 3 nights at the Stow on the water RFC site, (site could do with some organising and the facilities a deep clean) had planned to go to France, Spain and Portugal this month, but due to a certain Orange baby decided to do the Cotswolds and some other UK trips - we’ll hopefully get to Europe September

Which is on our way home from CRS Performance.

Thanks to Rob, Steve and the team for a new pair of Evo front springs (thought I might as well do both) ready for the MOT retest.

But.

Bloody EML light came back on on the way home.

Oh well, still under warranty, will see when VW can look at it next week.
