What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Picked up a load of fresh tar from a newly repaired stretch of single lane somewhere near Calgary Bay, I think  I guess the clue was it was still steaming, but I had nowhere to go to avoid it anyway. Got no product with me to deal with it - hoping it doesn't stick permanently.

Spent about three hours cleaning this mess up. Gave the van a good wash first to get rid of the usual road muck, which revealed more tar than at first feared - the rear wheel was covered with spots
Good news is the Autoglym Tar Remover (thanks @Drive Wayne ) and good old WD40 (sprayed on the mud flaps - thanks @Jcl68) worked a treat. Looking OK now, some hard to reach/see bits will no doubt come off in time (or not).
Now it's pelting down on my nice clean van 😭

Clean vans make rain.

Had a strange noise on starting up the van for a week, literally for a second... bricking it thinking it may be a loose belt again - which was costly, got it into the garage yesterday. Had a message not long after... yep the dreaded Flywheel on its way out. Booked in for a week today to get DMF etc sorted..
had a feeling it was on its way out, slightly different noise to when clutch is depressed to when its not.
Had the air-con regassed last week as well.. chilly as a  as they say.

So after the garage, went home & cleaned the Magnaclean on the Central Heating & put in some inhibitor. Takes your mind off it
What sort of miles is the van on for a new flywheel? what sort of figure were you quoted? Must have a listen next time.

A drop of petrol on a rag will get it off

Hey bud, I'm based in S.Wales, about 15 minutes over the bridge.. i take it to a garage call Remapping The Way in Abercynon, VW independent. They're about 35-40mins away, trip on the M4 & A470. Andy & his crew are a good bunch. Quoted £1100 all in TPS genuine VW Parts

Yes mate wheel clinic. Very professional outfit and very friendly and the finish on the wheels are perfect, just got to ban the wife from driving the van and they should stay that way 😂 I think there is 5 different shades of bronze to choose from.
