What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Thanks Kev. It'll be nice not to have blokes blowing me kisses when I toot the horn.

Its quite a neat design, and I like the plug and play nature of it. Not expensive either. A good find, Sir!

Poppytoppy maintenance day today, lubricated hinges etc.
For months the poptop has been sitting slightly squiffy, but a couple of loosened bolts, lump hammer and block of wood put it right.
Installed a replacement 5m string of cob lights from SCR, all happy now, just need to do the Fabsil thing next time I get a chance.

Not our van but finished our new trailer, installed 200 watt ecoworthy solar panel on the roof ( bolted down @Drive Wayne ) built a battery box with 100ah lithium battery, 1000 watt remote pure sine wave inverter, pair of led lights and caravan store awning.
I now have a total of 400ah of lithium batteries and 600 watt of solar plus Jackery 1000 explorer.IMG_2317.jpegIMG_2326.jpegIMG_2321.jpegIMG_2318.jpegIMG_2319.jpegIMG_2320.jpegIMG_2298.webp

@VanDamMan will be keeping close tabs on you! Looking very good!

Technically it wasn't today, but 2 weeks ago. Took a trip down from Lancashire to the the guys at Smartbeds near Bristol - they fitted while I hung around, drunk brews and ate their biscuits :-) proper sound fellas.

They're also offering free installation too which saved me a good chunk of cash as well. Just waiting for my upholstery now, being custom made by a fella in Leyland, hopefully be ready in the next week or so

Be interested to know how comfy it is as a bed, looks to be a great product

And that rail, how does it secure to the van - just into the ply floor?
Thanks. The units are from EvoDesign and come in flatpack form.. take a bit of building, but it's a nice project to keep ya busy. Installed myself too.

The rails are actually bolted through the floor of the van. The ply is cut so the rails sit half in the ply, but stand proud about 20mm. It's pull tested and is an impressive piece of engineering. Some pics on their site here:

Out of interest - who's the guy in Leyland you're using for the seat upholstery? My Mrs is constantly wishing we/she hadn't gone down the pleather upholstery route for our bed and front seats so would be good to have someone local-ish if she ever decides she fancies a change!

He was recommended by a local converter. Terry Trimmer (yes, I know :-D ) He's retired now but seems to have been doing it for decades and continues as a background hobby/job. Proper sound fella, went and had a "quick" chat with him and ended up there for about an hour :-)

Looks awesome mate thank you, i am looking between them (EVO) and Davenco at the moment, but there are so many options on the EVO website to choose from!

Bed definitely looks awesome, will keep that company in mind. I was dead set on RIB until i saw your post.
