Put my big boy pants on and attempted 3 stage sound deadening on the doors and fit the new speakers, tweeters and sub/amp.
Sound deadening complete, 8" door speakers complete.
Ran out of time, patience, day light and sweary words do do the rest.
So, after doing the driver's side, approx 3hrs, fitted the speaker, tested it, I then stood back and admired my technical brilliance.
I then spent 30 minutes questioning the parentage of the door card, took for ever in a day to get it back in place. Might have something to do with all the acoustic foam I stuck on the inside.
Anyway, onto the passenger side, feeling confident that I done one side, it was reminiscent of building a wardrobe from IKEA, once you done the 1st one, the second usually takes half the amount of time.
Everything off, drilled out the old speaker, sound deadened the door, door skin, acoustic foam on the door card, fitted speaker, again questioned the parentage of the passenger side door card.
Stood back, admired my technical brilliance.
Thought I'd go for a test drive to see the difference.
Mmmmm, only drivers side working.
Got back, door card off, removed the speaker to find that my technical brilliance wasn't so brilliant as I forgot to plug the connectors in.
Tested it, funnily enough it worked.
Another fight with the door card ensued, this time it was being referred to as the female genitalia.
Went for another test run, by fook it's loud.
Rest of the installation may happen over the weekend.
The moral of the story, before standing back and looking like a smug b*****d, admiring your technical brilliance, remember to connect the speaker first.
