What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

@davecdjt . I feel for you with the tyre - I paid just over £1000 for 4 CC Agilis earlier this year and in Croatia last month, we came around a bend in the road to see a small rock fall. I managed to avoid hitting the boulders in front of me but in doing so clipped the rim and 3500 mile old Cross Climate on the rear passenger side with another, albeit smaller one. On inspection, I saw that it had taken a small 1P piece slice out of the sidewall which worried me a bit but it wasn't deep (about 1mm, there was no bulge or wire visible and no undue vibration so I decided to leave it alone and carry on. I kept an eye on it for the rest of the trip and since we got home have shown it to two separate MOT testers both of whom have said it's nothing to worry about. That said, I think I'm going to keep my eye open for a good condition Devonport and get a new CC Agilis put on it with the other one going iunder the van as a spare.
 
The trouble with a cut like that might be that it's difficult to see how deep it actually is but it would be worth seeking an expert opinion. This is mine which the experts both reckoned was not as bad as it looked but when I zoom in on the picture, I still can't help worrying (hence I'll probably look for another wheel before the next big trip).

Had an interim service done at a local independent. They've been servicing our vehicles for over 20 years. £211.00.
No problems except that one rear tyre us down to 2.5mm, is badly cracked and has some stepped wear on the inside (whatever that is). I've been going to replace the rears with Michelin Agilis Cross climate like I have on the front but they're not cheap! I can get 15% off a pair and get them fitted for £430.00. The other rear tyre has 7mm so would replace the barely legal spare that I'm carrying. It's been an expensive couple of months one way or another.
Check out Costco. Think they were £170ea fitted when I looked the other week. Im waiting to see an offer to come up as I want 2 before the winter sets in.
 
From UK MOT Manual;

When assessing cuts in a tyre, it is permissible to check whether a cut is deep enough to reach the ply or cord by using a blunt instrument to open the cut taking care not to cause further damage.

The following criteria should be used when assessing a cut in a tyre:

  • any ply or cord that can be seen without touching the tyre - fail
  • if by folding back rubber or opening a cut with a blunt instrument, so as not to cause further damage, exposed ply or cord can be seen irrespective of the size of the cut - fail
  • if a cut which is more than 25mm or 10% of the section width whichever is the greater, is opened with a blunt instrument and cords can be felt but not seen - fail
Before failing a cut, you must make sure it’s the cords that you can feel not a foreign object. If you’re not sure, then you should pass and advise.

When assessing lumps or bulges in a radial ply tyre, care should be taken to distinguish between normal undulations in the carcass, resulting from manufacturing, and lumps or bulges caused by structural deterioration.

 
Finally got round to re-trimming the A pillars, top of the B Pillars and the headlining. Used the Harrison trim unbacked stretch suede as recommended on here, it's nice quality and easy enough to work with, creating a good finish. As a first attempt it's certainly not perfect, the headlining has a couple of small annoying creases and a small glue overspray, but it looks much nicer than the beige. I also painted all the beige trim parts I couldn't cover, excluding the sun visors, interior light and grab handle which I'll replace eventually. I'm leaving the plastics in the lower sections as they'll get scuffed a lot and not sure how durable this fabric really is!! I retained the LED strip light that was fitted (although painted the white plastics) for the RAC as it's very handy when camping.

I have a g840s installed. Wish I'd bought the 900 for the integrated wifi. Buyers remorse hehe

In terms of pro vs tripro pro starts faster then tri it’s like 10 sec delay on latest model (might try software update)
Front bumper camera helps but I will need rethink positioning as it’s hard to say when there no front bumper on camera etc.
Everything else its same between both revers camera got usb c instead of jack in pro version and thats open door for adding extra camera with simple usb splitter and usb switch on/off for each camera and that what I will do soon to have extra camera on top of tailgate rec when I drive and other one for parking only. Will need as well connect wolfbox to my leisure battery for 24h rec instead of after key.
If not that deal from friend I would not bother upgrading to tri version
 
I would think it’s designed like that so a failed clutch system can’t reduce the fluid level to the point that the brakes fail.
Yep.
What I found strange was how high above the minimum line it was.
 
My mirrors weren't folding in on locking so I performed the electric window reset. Opened and closed both windows twice whilst holding the button down for a few seconds at the end of each cycle, worked perfectly afterwards.

Finally got round to fitting my new knob, a well worthwhile investment in time & money. A word of warning only buy if you have a manual van :D. Oh and dont, just dont lose a flippin trim clip and then have to order a replacement (3B0867190) from vehicleclips.co.uk. Not that I did obviously.

Retrimmed with cloth stolen from the bottom half of your trousers, I presume?
 
Had an hour or so underneath the van doing a bit of undersealing - was quite impressed how tidy it was underside for a 150k van. Also put some rear door badge inlay stickers on - can’t say I’m too impressed with them but they look okay…
