What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

stripped the headliner to sound deaden and thermoline the cab roof. Deadened the door skin as best as I could, and also chucked some on the plastic door card, not sure if this is the thing to do but seen a few things about it online. Definitely enhances the speakers that’s for sure. Then carried on with the deadening in the rear.

Oh and all back together again.. the joys of using the van whilst converting

Did it make much difference (acoustic foam)?
yes, reduced road noise, door cards feel more solid and no rattles at all from the doors.
Hard to say on the audio side as I upgraded the speakers. I did however drive around with no door cards on for a week until I got round to finishing them and they definately reduce the noise putting them back on

Today I have fitted 20mm spacers to my rears to bring them out to match the front wheels. Very happy with the results and thanks to @SymeT6 for selling them to me.

Also fitted new clips to my sliding door rail cover so now water tight and correctly alligned - broken clips removed.

What is the benefit of this besides aesthetics? And any downsides?

Also, what does it cost.?

Trying to work out how much the vacuous space in rear arch bothers me.

Thank you

Purely aesthetic for me. The wheels look sunken without spacers. One day I will buy staggered wheels where the rear wheels are wider to avoid the recessed rim look.

Drive seems fine, no issues.

Edit: cost is relatively cheap. I bought spacers of an esteemed gent from the forum. Website for the spacers state a pair of spacers is approx £55/£60 not including bolts but you generally get bolts free when buying a set.

Fitted self or fitted by a friendly local garage?

Fitted it myself

Only had a socket set, couldn't loosen it by hand and the only bar I had was a 5' barbell bar... after that it was easy. I may have over torqued it when putting them back on hehe

@Stu007 I don't suppose you fancy selling the old seat belt cover - mine broke last summer when caught on trial-fold mattress, and noticed today my attempt to superglue has failed.
Sorry only just spotted this.. I might still have them or they might have been binned.. let me look

Carpeted the original panels that aren't wrecked and installed. Two rears and the slider to sort later this week. No idea (still) how I'm gonna do the rear quarters full height... meh

When the seat base battery and upgraded leisure electrics was installed the gents at @Absolut5 took the Rusty Lee swivel base off the drivers seat to improve clearance. So today I removed the handbrake lowering kit and put the handbrake back in its original position.
I’ve also cleaned up a little on the inside as we start packing for a few days on holiday - we’re taking the van but not camping in it.

Are you going to be showing off your new toys at one of the forum meet-ups Dave?

After the new (to us) tailgate was fitted, we got used to driving the van without the rear blind being fitted and being able to see through the back window.

So rather than screw the rear blind panel back in place, I decided to make it removable. I added aluminium brackets to the bottom panel;

And a rivnut with a knurled machine screw to the top of the tailgate.

It all works, so now we can put the blind in when we go camping and take it out when we are not.

Fitted a new drivers side door seal after finding that the whole lower section was split. I was dreading it as a 12 inch section was rusty and I thought it was the pinch weld underneath, but it turned out to be the metal inside the rubber seal. A bit of a wrestle with all the trim panels and roof lining, but doable with patience.

Just the repeat process on the passenger side now..
