What Have You Bought Today?

@Drive Wayne. I'll await for your confirmation (or otherwise) but if you didn't register the new one as AGM and you're still all good after two years, it can't be that important so I won't worry too much. That said, I have messaged Carista (as suggested by @stu3467) and I'll share there response as and when....

Just ordered this ….

Got a good deal from Deutsche Parts ( Uk supplier) …unfortunately had to buy the complete kit as I couldn’t find a replacement light bar ( stone chip damage )
VW don’t list individual parts …only wanted the light bars

My Carista app definitely does NOT show ‘Battery Technology’- just Ah, make and serial number. Could anybody else on here please plug their dongle in and have a look (@Drive Wayne @Dellmassive ?). I’ve actually got an evo version on the way to me but would be very surprised if that was any different. Maybe it’s a Skoda thing (I think it’s a Skoda in the video anyway). I’ll plug into my Q5 later and have a look as well.
This is me... .

@Dellmassive. Thanks for the post above. TBH, the first part (on the left) might as well be in Hanzi for the amount of sense it meant to me but the second bit (centre) conforms with what I see on my iPad app - nowhere to differentiate between EFB or AGM. As I said to @Drive Wayne, I'm guessing it's not that important so I think I'll just leave it. Anyway, Short of buying another EFB battery (which ain't gonna happen), there's not much choice - the old one has gone for recycling and was on the way out.
Also as said above, I've asked Carista about it and I'll report on their response. You never know, it might even prompt them to do something. (but I won't hold my breath).

EFB is a cheap version of the AGM

So AGM is the best option for the starter battery.

Cheaper option is the EFB

Thats it.... No SLA or deep cycle lead acid.

Only AGM or EFB.

I ordered the Ottocast 3.0 Cube on offer weeks ago, with it having now just arrived via snail mail from China. I was using just a USB cable before, as the previous Ottocast I had from last car was reasonably big and had a cable to it anyway.

I must say, this new one is tiny and fits perfectly in factory T6 port. Looks better with it in place than without tbh.

Set it up last night but not been out in the can yet, so looking forward to heading into the office later, so I can see how quick it connects and how good it is during operation.

@Skyliner33 forced me into testing mine to the limit! Very pleased with it in my 6.1, but delivery took weeks!

The new Carista Eco arrived this morning. I've not actually timed it compared to the old one (original version) but I reckon it's maybe twice as fast to connect and do it's thing and the ability to go into standby mode thus reducing the potential drain on the battery is a distinct advantage which means that it can just be left plugged all the time, in theory at least. I'll leave it in for a while and keep an eye on the starter battery just in case though. I'll now be able to leave the old one in my Q5 in case it's ever needed when I'm away from home. I think I'll also download VAG DPF and have a play next.

I've just pressed mine into action today, it's certainly faster.
Paid for vag dpf is good, happily connecting to the screen in the van.
I'm leaving it installed, doesn't seem to be sapping the SB.
