What Have You Bought Today?

I accidentally bought a van x comfort dash glove box conversion and top dashboard console lid.

Too long don't read. In a nutshell - don't buy the dash top cover from van x

I have just installed the dash top lid from van x. It's not amazing. I'm really confused with the design. It's not designed to clip in to the existing holes with the OEM retaining clips that hold the original back fascia in so firmly. You have to take the metal clips out of the dash and the protrusions on the lid base are essentially just to locate the unit. The two end oem clips aren't to be removed but when I have gently and cautiously tried to install into these clips the bloomin van x tabs for that location dont seat well at all and after I've tried to manipulate them in to the extent of using brut strength, it's pushed the metal oem clips through, into the dash cavity underneath, never to be seen again.

I held it in place to screw it on with the provided screws. Too tightly screwed and the front of the lid hovers over the dash. Too loose and the hinge section raises up and rattles when driving.

I tried some 3m tape strategically in all places of contact but no use. The dash cargo cover needs designing so as to clip in where the original trim clips are and there needs to be a way to adjust and fine tune the unit once in place.

Am sending it back.

I have the comfort dash glovebox upgrade also... i dont think I'm going to bother with that either. The idea of a glove box cover isn't new. The cost of this unit vs quality and basic design doesn't make sense to me.

Bought this from amazon few weeks ago to keep the starter battery topped up as our next trip wasn't until this coming weekend so just short of a month since Northumberland trip. Battery was at 60% before last week's Egypt break. Checked it today after getting home and battery was full. Although it's waterproof I suckered it to the inside of the windscreen and plugged it into a cigarette lighter socket. I'll use it whenever the van is parked now. Comes highly recommended.

It will be useful from spring into autumn. Unlikely to give you anything in winter unfortunately.

We tend to use the van through the year and I check it once a week through the winter when not in use so I'll plonk it in its spot and see how it fairs this winter. The roof solar tends to keep the leisure battery full through winter but obviously much bigger than this one. If it performs through the bulk of the year I'll be happy. Was nice coming back to a full battery for a change.

Used to have something very similar to this for my motorbike, in a little window of the cover, with its alarm and tracker it had parasitic drain, for which this was an easy way to keep on top of it. Not so sure how well it'd work for a van, BUT it has to help for sure, Ironically used to keep on top of things in the winter, so here's hoping..

Before I discovered Ablemail AMT12-2 I bought one of those little solar panels which didn't work for me with the orientation of our house, driveway and sun. Fortunately Amazon had it back. Ablemail is faultless and very easy to plumb in if you have solar and an LB.

Booked in for an MOT, didn't think there would be any issues but of course I was wrong....

I have a fractured spring mount on the back! and
I am booked to take my son Brands Hatch this weekend too 😡

Anyway called Simon @BognorMotors and after confirming with the garage exactly what the issue was Simon arranged for the parts to be sent to me direct from the manufacturers.
So nice to use a company that offer that level of care well after the initial purchase.

So all being well the weekend is back on... 👍
