What Have You Bought Today?

Not bought but borrowed. Bit of a car swap today as the wife’s Volvo went in for a repair. They gave her a 408bhp S60 T8 Twin engine, So I gave the “velle” to the wife for the day so I could smash the S60’s face in. Fast as F*** , no car quicker than a loaner :whistle:66E5DEE2-693C-4922-8FFD-742A7A755AD2.jpeg

Bit of a Q-car that. 400+BHP, but looks like a normal everyday saloon.

Back in the early 1990s I was on leave back in the UK from my then base in Cyprus and hired a smallish car for a couple of weeks to get around. I turned up to collect it and was given the expected bog standard Ford Escort. I was just arriving at home when it started to pee down so I turned the wipers only for one to fall off! This was before mobiles so I got indoors and phoned the hire company who said that they would come over in another car and if they couldn't fix the Escort, leave that with me for the two weeks. A couple of hours later, there was a knock on the door and a mechanic stood there to tell me he couldn't fix the Escort but had another car for me. I said I didn't mind so long as it was OK to which he responded something like 'it's OK alright'. We went outside and I saw an almost new Ford Sierra Cosworth which was apparently the only other car that they had available. I thought to complain but kept my mouth shut. The thing even had a phone installed which cost an arm and a leg if you wanted to use it - I didn't but it didn't stop me posing by just picking up the handset who;lst driving along ( yes, I know that's a bit shallow but.....). To say that I enjoyed my two weeks driving around and visiting friends and relatives is an understatement. At one point, I found myself unable to get to sleep at about 0300 hrs and just decided to go for a very quick blast up the A2 to Dover and back (from near Dartford) - it didn't take long!
