Webasto Auxiliary Heater - customizing

do you know if 8K0963271 will work on my t5.1? i see in etka this is also supported, 7n0963513B and 8K0963271. i would like 8K0963271 because i can pair the remote with display.

thank you
Unfortunately, I have no idea if it will work for you, but thanks for the answer, I read that I need the file FL_7E096327 2 B__0009.frf

i have t5.1 you have t6. mine dosent need to flash the heater. we have different heaters, yours is thermo top evo, mine is thermo top c

So, assuming the firmware is correct and not being bothered if it's a remote fob or just a simple switch, can you replace the Telestart unit with just a switched raw 12v supply to the green/white white wire?

I really hope I am wrong, but you are being overly optimistic.
Mine has a "dumb" AUX Heater and looks the same as yours. Obviosly being an AUX doesn't feature a Telstart.
The description says Parking Heater, but it is not true.
See pictures from OBDII.

This is interesting. I realise it’s an Audi but perhaps it’s also configurable on the 6.1?

I’ve had a look on VCDS and followed the instructions. It doesn’t look the same.
That said, I’m no expert on coding so bigger and better brains than mine will need to confirm.
Maybe via the instrument cluster? Just a guess.

The point here is that the heater that’s installed clearly is capable of running in both modes, engine on or engine off without the need to re-flash it.

Hi Folks
I have a T6.1 with factory fitted heaters (water Webasto heater and Air Ederspacher)10251020_101426.jpg at present the air heater has a square remote10251126_165810.jpg, can this be changed over to the water heater and programmed to be a parking heater to heat the engine before starting it. as per @Robert post

i have VCDS with basic skills
i do not want to make any changes the overhead controller happy with the way it works.
hoping i can get away without flashing the heater new software as i do not know how to do that.

thanks

It looks like you have the identical setup as mine so, almost certainly not.
Under address 18 there is no slave module remote control which would be R149 (there is for the air heater, R64).

Personally I can’t see there being any difference between the R64 receiver and a R149.

If you can find the R64 you could try removing it and connecting as per the wiring scheme shown elsewhere in this thread to see if it works?

I have exactly the same setup and wish to startup the Webasto via the remote control.
Hope some one knows the procedure to get this working.

i have had a look in VCDS. If i uncheck the remote in address 800B the air heater. Then check the remote without display in address 18 would that move the remote unit over bit 2-3 below.

Reading through the various threads the heater is triggered by the remote directly to the heater, so wiring needed not just coding it have i got that right?

Thank you very much!
It seems that the overhead controller of the air heater resides under 08-HVAC-controller - the same as for the engine heater interestingly 🧐

Even more curious now. Any chance to also post so called blockmap data and adaptation maps of controllers 08 (HVAC) and 800B (Aux. heater 2) please
For the xx 08 and 800B

[VCDS]
[Applications]
[Controller Channel Map]
- Single Controller Address = xx
- Login or security access code: Leave blank
- Function: Measuring values & Adaptations
- Output: CSV file
[Go]

The result CSV files are saved into directory C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Logs

Unfortunately not. The remote controllers are hardwired to their host controllers.

The first obstacle is the software - I'm afraid there is no way to make

to start from a remote.

Suitable softwares are listed earlier in this thread --> Webasto Auxiliary Heater - customizing

Thanks i though that might be the case

if i flash the heater with the correct file will that update it or is it and different heater?
will the update get it to 5WA 963 271

just trying the understand the process first time trying something like this

Please see the blockmap info for all 3 modules keen to see what can be learned (every day a school day but this time interesting)

thanks for your help

if i take out the cable running to the air heater and add a cable to the water heater would that work with the remote
This was exactly my question in post #569.

My knowledge of Lin Bus is limited but I’d guess it depends exactly on what the remote unit outputs when activated.
In other words, is the “switch on” signal for the air heater the same as that required for the water heater?

I'm afraid the software still is the issue.

The software reflash will work on your heater hardware.
However, it's claimed that an(other) overhead controller is still needed --> Webasto Auxiliary Heater - customizing which I find a kind of strange because the overhead controller is not wired to Webasto but 08-HVAC.

Thank you very much. Well, it seems that the adaptions of 08-HVAC are the same as for factory installed parking heater.
However, there are some coding differences between yours (having both 18 & 800B) and vans having parking heater (18) only.

Would be interesting to know how the differences are labeled in VCDS.
Could you please make screenshots (Alt-PrintScreen) of 08-HVAC coding - bytes of 08-HVAC bytes 1, 6, 22.
