Is it possible to start the Webasto with a simple relay / voltage signal or do I have to use a lin bus / w-bus module?
Background:
I have a 2016 Caravelle with a Thermo Top Evo and climatronic.
I want to be able to activate the aux heater as a parking heater but I don't want a telestart module. I.e. I regularly end up sitting in the vehicle waiting and I want the heater on without starting the engine. Rest mode is only good for 20 mins. I can start it with VCDS by selecting customer service mode but this is not a practical solution. The Danhag module looks good but I couldn't select the UK for the delivery address. A simple switch to the Webasto loom with updated firmware will hopefully work.
Reading the threads it looks like I should be able to apply 12v to pin 1 (after flashing the firmware) and it should start, but with 4101 coding it does nothing. With 5101 it gives me a system malfunction error listing a short circuit on the lin bus. This suggests that ping 1 is not the analogue input on the Webasto and is actually the w-bus / lin-bus line.
I have flashed the Webasto firmware (to 7E0 963 272 B) and tried all coding options I can think of.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
