Webasto Auxiliary Heater - customizing

I know this is an older thread but it seems you guys are likely to know the answer.
Reading all the posts about the Tele start kits, am I correct that it is a remote control unit that supplies a +12v to the webasto unit?

If so is it possible to manually start the heater by way of a switch to the cable in the red connector under the seat? I've had an older BMW with a webasto and it worked for that.

I have a 2014 caravelle with thermo top C, no overhead control panel and full climate control?

I think the t5 with thermo top c is an analog input that will trigger with a 12v signal. The t6 (2016 onwards) uses lin-bus so needs the telestart module. I would give it a try / keep researching but I think your chances are good.
