Tyre choice for T32 Camper

My campervan T6 T32 DSG 150 has 215/60 R17 C Continentals as fitted when bought from Bilbos. They get me round corners and stop well BUT the van ride is somewhat harsh.
Can anybody advise if different tyres might help with the ride?

I’m recalling my last motor, a Toyota AWD RAV4 and the magic carpet ride when I swapped the old Turanzas for Mchelin X Climates.

Any ideas?

Just fitted Goodyear Vector All-seasons 225/65/17s to replace Conti Van Contact 200 215/60/17. Run them at 45 psi.

Like night and day. T32 on standard suspension.

Done anything with your suspension yet?

See CRS Performance in Cannock, or The Van Cave in Somerset, whichever is closer.

I know your message is to the OP, but seeing CRS is on my list too - money and time willing.

Those c (commercial) Continentals, if they are the 109 loaded sidewalls, are like a solid rubber tyre. Doesn’t help that they need to be silly psi.
I put mine back on for a trip last year and they were very hard.
Deffo try tyres or go the whole hog and visit CRS and then throw some 18/19/20’a on it.

Hi,my rims are VW 16 inch steel rims
But @Lorna - just to be clear - note that 16“ are unlikely to fit on your T32!
You’ll most likely have larger brakes which need the larger rims…

…but you can get good value steels like this in 17” (or 18”+).
For example like these from JBW:

Wow. That IS a good price.

Hello CJW. Please could I ask some questions? How did you get/getting on with these tyres? Looking on line I see they have a load rating of 106. Is this correct? I'm currently on 215/60/17 - 107/109 Michelin Cargo Vectors and getting near to replacing. My T6.1 T32 is a 4Mo so quite a heavy van particularly fully loaded for touring/camping. Any idea if the 106 rating would be good enough for me? I understand the minimum rating is 103 for a T32 but not sure if this covers 4Mo (if at all). Is there any change to the speedo readings? Thanks.

Hi. I really like the tyres. I’ve just recently put my summer wheels on which are 255/18/45s and the 45s are definitely a little bit more harsh. The 65s are very good at absorbing rough road surfaces. They’re lasting well and wearing evenly.

You’ll have to check your axel weight as I’m not 4 Motion. Some other forum member might know if 4Mo t32s need more than a 103Y.

I used @mmi ‘s trick to correct the speedo using VCDS.

Definitely recommend.
