Stop/Start Not Working

Hopefully this is what you mean
Thanks. Yes, that's exactly the package.

Hmmm... module 04-Steering Angle control unit is missing o_O. Thinking that thus there should be a fault in module 19-Gateway unless Steering control unit is coded out... Have you touched module 19 by OBD11? Do you have Webasto auxiliary coolant heater - a sticker on front door?

Steering angle fault does shutdown start stop function as had it in mine (along with abs etc when my steering went off central)

Just looked into old scans - OBDeleven is missing module 04 since last August. Weird!
At the moment looks like can't trust history of OBDeleven.

Hi, no i havent touched anything, all I've done is run the scan. Im not sure about the webasto coolant heater, will check for a sticker tomorrow. Thanks

I've just noticed this on the odb forum( see pic) i wonder if previous owner has tried to disable the start stop permanently. The start stop error is displayed when i first put the key in ignition, it also comes up when i press the button that manually stops the start stop function. This would tie in with what dellmassive suggested earlier about the battery. Will report back tomorrow

I've checked the battery and everything seems to be connected as it should, also cant see a sticker on the door that about webasto auxillary sticker. I'll leave it a few days and if it doesnt go off I'll head off to VW...thanks for all your help guys

This may be something or nothing. I've just noticed that in "61 battery regulation" of my scan i posted earlier in the thread it has a serial number " 4000 341171554" does anybody know if this is the battery serial number? As this does not match the serial number on my battery. I was thinking if that is the case and its the wrong serial number would this cause the " start/stop error" i am getting displayed?

I have rescanned since and am getting the following error.

Cheers

Forgot to update, VW ran diagnostics and originally said the battery monitor control module and alternator were knackered, they said it would of been caused by jump starting the van. However after fitting the control module, alternator began to work as should and the stop/start error was resolved with no need for a new alternator. All done under warranty too. :)

Just had a door lock problem so after some advice disconnected the battery to see if any errors were cleared. Errors on the door lock have gone. Job done.
BUT I now have “Error start stop“ a few seconds after turning on the ignition. Been to the van centre.
no faults on diagnosis.
Told it needs a needs a new download etc. And a full battery check to reinstate the stop start function because the battery has been disconnected.
The point is will this error clear itself as the ecu learns.
or does it indeed need to be re enabled or set up by the dealer.
All seems a bit much just for disconnecting the battery, which we all do at some stage during ownership.

There are lots of conditions that can postpone start stop.
guve it a couple of days to get charged up and the battery monitor happy.

I hope it’s ok for me to jump on this thread. I also have this error and I would be grateful for any advice.

My vehicle is a California 150DSG MY17.

I am not aware of having done something to provoke it (eg I have disconnected the battery whilst fitting a solar panel, but I’m 90% sure the stop start was working after this).
I bought a Carista and it shows a series of faults (see below). The van drives normally (except for the stop start). I took it to my dealer who said they could find an obvious problem and thought it might be a wiring fault. They said they would need the van for a few days and would remove the dashboard to trace the wiring.
I am alarmed at this- sounds v expensive and also, would the dash go back properly? The vehicle is only a few months out of warranty, so I am concerned about a problem like this so early in the life of a vehicle I intend to keep for many years.
Does this course of action seem reasonable by the dealer?
I am thinking I should contact VW customer care to see if I can persuade them that it should be fixed under warranty.

Dealers talk bollicks. I disconnected my battery,, everything was working before now I have stop start error just after ignition. No other warning lights and I can see the battery is charging on the split charger display. I think It is the battery monitor on the negative. It came up twice at different garages on the Vcds plug in.
About 35 quid to buy.
Anyway don’t see how disconnection of your battery should fault anything.
so if it goes flat over the winter or you leave your lights on it breaks your van.??!!
Don’t believe it.
How old the van.??

Also some of those faults could have been for a millisecond And now not there but the ecu logs them. Take it to vw Audi specialists not a main dealer. and don’t tell them you unplugged the battery see what they say.

So, did you actually replace the battery monitoring module (on the battery negative)? Or still pending?

Do you have a voltage display to monitor charge voltage from starter battery/alternator? Does the voltage rise up to approx. 14.5 - 15.0 Volts when engine braking?
