So I looked in the engine bay..and then the oil filler

Mines is going into stealer to check out. 2000 miles, had oil and filter changed and came back within couple of hundred miles even over long distance

IMG_0194.JPG IMG_0194.JPG Mines a 204 done 2.5k in 3 weeks and the filler and dipstick has the mayonnaise type gunk on, see pictures. I understand the filler neck but a bit concerned about the dipstick - this was after I had wiped it and put back in & out! Has anyone else had it this bad?IMG_0194.JPGIMG_0189.JPG

Hmmm so included in the service is a sump off/clean, and a clean of the oil pump pickup strainer?

The van is at the dealers for at least the next week, took from 8am to 1pm to get me a replacement hire van (Renault) which I had to get a taxi to the hire place then drive it back to dealers to swap my tools over.
Today they called and reckon the oil cooler is the culprit, they are planning to replace this and flush the engine - that's it. I have raised my concerns with regards to premature wear on bearings etc especially turbos and been fobbed off with "we're doing what Germany tells us to do, you can't demand what we do" So I've spoken to a turbo specialist who said he was surprised the turbos had put up with the oil contamination at all and would give them 500-1000 miles tops running on oil in that state! Told VW this and still refusing to replace turbos as apparently they are "not associated with the oil cooler" I'm really not impressed with how they're dealing with it or their mechanical knowledge!
I'm sure there will be more to come!

Right, I've just clocked 8000 miles and my oil light came on. As soon as I got some oil (5 mile journey with oil light on) I opened up the engine bay, took the cap off and I've got mayo but what worried me was the smoke!!!! My temp reading always stays at 90 so I had no concerns there but my oil on the dipstick is as black as black can be. Never have I seen smoke coming from oil filler tube either. Is the engine emptier than the computer thought it was? Have I just put that poor thing through hundreds of miles of torture?

There has been a few reports of mayo around the oil neck filler on the euro 6 engines, i have had a little on mine. VW have said it is nothing to be alarmed about (so they say) cant remember the explanation off the top of my head. I think @Loz had a statement about it ? As for the oil light best you keep a eye on the level as a new engine will use some and will need topping up. you should have had some oil supplied with it when your purchased for this.

It must be my OCD but I check my oil every week:rolleyes: and yes @StudleyGlass mine came with oil as well.

I've been robbed then, because mine didn't. Good old stealers, even skimping on a 1L lot of oil now!

so did mine......but the salesman must have laughed his c*ck off when I asked him to throw me some oil in as I was concluding the deal....... 'cos he was probably going to give me some anyway!!!!! What a schmuck!!!

ooooh and by the way.......probably telling you all something you probably already know.......but there is a recall......something to do with a sensor and a pipe??? But they're on back order from Germany so not holding my breath!!
