Show Us Your Mountain Bikes :)

Bike looks awesome mate.

I used to spit at the ground whever an ebiker blasted past me on a long climb, but the more I see them, the more I'm starting to get it.

Cheers. I like it!

I think ebike haters are coming around. Have a go on one, go to a demo day. I always let others have a go, one chap was slating me for it, I offered him a go and he zoomed off laughing his head off and ten minutes later came back a convert. Was a little worried he’d nicked it lol.

I had one on loan for a weekend to try it out. It was a right laugh and I actually really liked it. The problem is my mates won't buy one, so being the only person in our group with one hasn't been an option I'd consider yet.

I go for a weekly ride with a non ebike rider. I keep mine on eco and it’s a good workout for me. Turn off where I don’t need it.

I think you can mix quite well. However if I go out with my ebike lot you can go so much further and do so much more. More fun?

We're seeing more and more especially at non uplift bike parks.
The guys on them are smashing so many more runs in not having to push back up.

I do believe ebikes and non ebikes are a separate entity that share the same trial space, and as you say Mr T, one guy riding an ebike with a group of mates without ebikes, isn't going feel as much fun.

Downhill it’s all the same. :)

I wish I had the nerve to do that.

I love e-bikes but I’m an XC rider at heart. So an e-bike rather defeats the purpose.

Were I a gravity merchant, I’d have one.

What I noticed about my Levo v's my Jam C Lite is that I end up staying out much longer on the Levo. Run lengths are roughly double the distance so even for XC there are advantages in that you would just cover more ground, go further.
I am now at the point where I am considering selling my Jam as it never gets used anymore.

When out with non-bikers I just stick it in Eco and toddle along, if I get bored i'll blast up the hill and either wait for them to catch up or go around again if I think I can catch them back up :)

Anyone going to the Malverns next year by the way? I started a separate thread for it on here but it’s very quiet. o_O

Yes, I'm going but just doing the demo days. I've also signed on for a few other MTB fests next year.

Malvern's Classic - just the demo days but you get to ride all the tracks after each race.

Naughty Northumbrian - this looks full on and I'm probably in over my head.

Tweedlove Transcend - tickets go on sale tonight at 7pm and I'm going to get one.

Whats it like Mikie ? I've just ordered my 2019 Turbo Levo FSR but wasn't in stock until Feb-March :-( Had to get it from wheelies as my Haibike got nicked and thats where insurance company gives you a voucher for.
When I had a bike stolen my insurance company told me I had to go to Wheelies for replacement. I refused as they did not stock the make that was nicked so couldn’t replace like for like. Ended up with a cheque for a grand to go shopping where I wanted to.

The '19 is a much better bike than our '18 all be it the new one is an Expert and the older one a carbon comp. Different suspension, motor, bigger battery, bigger brakes, carbon rims etc. The Brose motors are very good, the 2.1 in the new bikes is a big improvement on an already great motor, and feel very natural unless your in Turbo.
The bike itself is very compliant, very easy to ride quickly up or down hill, not much I have riding has fazed it in the slightest and way more capable than me. Plus I haven't fallen of this one yet :)

Back in October we were away at Kielder with our Canyons (Strive and Spectral) for a few days and decided to try out a couple of Lapierre emtbs just to see what they were about. (The original plan was just to hire one as I had no intention to be seen dead on an emtb). They are utterly brilliant and totally different to what you expect. Within days we had a pair of Canyon Spectral:eek:n on order. Quite a difference to the 1990's Gary Fisher Joshua I was still riding until two years ago!

edit - That should say Spectral (colon) on but it put a weird smiley face in instead

I totally get the ebikes, it's not something I'd consider personally as I ride for fitness, but I can certainly see the appeal.

I know a female rider who has some quite serious health issues, she had to stop riding a couple of years back, then her partner got her an ebike and now she can ride with the rest of us rather than having to miss out.

Now it's wet and muddy I'm itching to get out on my bike this weekend, let's hope I can find the opportunity to do it.

That's the misconception that I had - you don't get the same fitness. If anything you get even fitter as you do so much more, particularly the technical descents. I'd normally finish a ride and could tell that my legs had been given a good workout, now my legs, arms and shoulders are aching because I've done three times more than I would have before. They are one of those things you need to try to appreciate. I went from emtb hater to convert in about 15 minutes.

That’s what a few people have said to me as well. You put in the same, or more, energy but you go twice as far. I guess that’s if you use it in eco mode the whole time. There are two downsides I can see to getting one, apart from the price:
1) They are too heavy to do any carrying, and very difficult over obstacles like fences
2) If you are riding with mates who have ordinary bikes you will be coasting and not keeping as fit, unless you are using an ebike to keep up with them in the first place

If I was riding with a group of mtbs I would just take the Strive instead for the reasons you give. There are also places like Grizedale where an emtb would take away the challenge as that place has nice technical climbs that are suitable for normal leg power and would be totally wasted with an emtb. For places that generally have boring fire roads to gain elevation for the good stuff, emtbs win hands down.

I have zero bike skills, I tend to walk down technical descents, one small rut and I'm OTB

If you have the cash a Specialised Kenevo is the e-bike to have, absolute blast, uphills are as much fun as downhills

I'd looked at the Kenevo and the Levo and was going to push the button on the 2019 Kenevo Comp as I could have got one locally. Weight was the deciding factor as we generally put the bikes on a roof rack so needed to be below 20kg. The Kenevo is an awesome looking piece of kit.
