Hi All,

I bought this van on Monday at auction. Yes I know it’s risky but there is no way I could afford it any other way.
@Deaks is a bad influence on me and that how I came to get a T32
Downsizing from a sprinter.
Its primary use is to carry toys.
My youngest is a golfer, my Mrs a long distance runner and surfer.
I am into bikes, of all shapes and sizes. I used to race, sometimes I do Trackdays.
So I wanted an up and over back door
The plans.
Get it clean* and up and together.
Convert the back, insulate, sound proof, then storage/sleeping/cooking.
I like @Beng’s solution for sleeping.
@Pauly has been a great help so far.
The van didn’t come with an owner’s manual so I am learning as I go.
It also didn’t come with a Jack.

That’s about it, more photos if it ever stops raining

Lot’s of daft questions too

If you look under where the steering column is, there should be a build label looking up from the footwell. Take a picture of it as the info is useful anyway. The owners manual normally has the same sticker in the front.

I’d get a manual from a similar age vehicle with the same engine and transmission code on the data sheet.

If you havnt done it yet. Sort the jack out (used VW one off of eBay?) and make sure all the wheels come off and whats the spare situation?

My Caravelle - It took four hours to get the spare wheel out due to the bolt that holds the wheel in being very rusted in, when out I found the spare was a mint new wheel and tyre with the VW stickers still on the tyre. It hadnt moved since 2014 and 130k miles!

All of the wheels took a massive amount of kicking to get off. One I gave up and went to Kwik-fit and they did it. Coppaslip on the bosses and nuts etc.

Next I found a good specialist and got all the oils and transmissions checked out with a list of to-do's for me to work through. That was engine, DSG and 4motion, all the filters etc. Put a new battery in (as big as I could squeeze in).

Once you know all this, then start playing. The VW service history was not to be belived in places so dont be complacent with your new van :)

Good luck and I will follow with interest in your build.

Don’t have a Jack, this is giving me the heebeegeebees.
I am looking for one, a manual, a workshop manual and working out a storage location for them, probably after I have thoroughly cleaned out under the seat.

I also want a new electric windy gun for the wheel nuts etc.

A recommendation of a specialist near Bristol will be welcome.

A full peace of mind service is on the cards too.
