I'm not sure it's that simple. I think the radio also gets a signal from the bcm.

what amp rated switch should i use for this as the only 16mm ones I can find are 3 amp

Fit a relay driven by switch, that way the switch can control large loads.

Not sure about head unit from leisure battery though.

21x15mm rectangular switch fits as well, cutting the hole is probably bit more difficult than for a round switch
