Redex bottle sizes - What's the difference?

I don't want to reopen any debates about the efficacy or otherwise of Redex additive so f you're inclined to do so, please just accept that I have a snake oil problem and move on.
I usually use 'super 'diesel (or whatever it's called) but when I don't, I tend to stick a shot of Redex Diesel System Cleaner in if it's a large refill. When we were away a couple of weeks ago, I filled up in Parranprth and they didnt have 'super' so I used 'regular'. The only Redex that they had in the shop was in a 500Ml bottle and the label says it's good for 4 tanks whereas the bottles that I usually buy are 250Ml which are advertised as one tank. There are no indications on the labels that the larger bottle is a stronger mixture or any other clue that the recipes might differ. Does anybody know if there is actually a difference please

We get the four pack of redex diesel additive from costco

I use millers cetane booster and cleaner , I have for years , absolutely swear by it .
My dpf equipped bmw doesn't show any difference on the mot emissions due to the filter.
But my non dpf van , the emmisions at mot is black and white.
Used to be 50 quid for 5 litres , last time it was about 85

So it's still all a mystery really but I am glad that I'm not the only snake oil addict on the forum. I tend to buy mine in my local Lidl or Aldi who often have it on the shelf at a knock down price - IIRC Lidl were £4 for 2x 250Ml bottles the last time and the frequency that they stck it at tends to keep me in supplies for the sort of mileages that I do in the car and van.
@Drive Wayne. Interesting that you say '2 dose Redex' what size bottles are they - I'm guessing 250Ml which are the same as pictured above but which also say '1 Dose'.
The Redex website doesn't really help either - they say:
  1. Each 250ml bottle contains two 125ml doses/shots. 1 dose/shot is required for the average-sized tank at 50 litres. You will see how many fuel doses it contains on the front label. Additionally, you will see dosage markers on the side of the bottle.
  2. If your tank is larger or smaller, you can still use the recommended dosage, just ensure that you dose your fuel accordingly. For example, if you fill half a tank (25 litres), use half a dose/shot of Redex. The precise mix ratio is 2.5ml of Redex System Cleaner per litre of fuel.
So Waynes 2 dose bottle (250Ml) is good for 2 doses if you've got a 50L tank (which I don't think any of us has in our vans) and my 1 dose bottle (also 250Ml) is good for a 100L tank (which again, I don't think any of us has in our van).
I'm just going too stop overthinking it and carry on as before.

There’s a phone number on the back, see label.

They are just different volume / number of doses.

I get the 4 pack from Costco, but I decant 1/2 into a smaller one I had which lives in the van which I use on long trips.

It's possibly Snake Oil and does no more than the additives in the derv already.

But it makes me feel warm and cozy that I'm doing something to help the Engine.

Good deal here. And you can sign up for a cosy online only account for £5.

@CAB. With respect, you're missing my point - I know we don't live in a perfect world but if we did, the formulas in the two bottles should either differ in strength or the recommended doses on the two different size bottles are ballox, at least without any qualifying notes:
500 (Ml) ÷ 4 (doses) = 125 (Ml) per dose
OR
250 (Ml) ÷ 1 (dose) = 1 (dose)
If the formulae were the same, the smaller bottle should do two doses rather than the single dose on the label on mine. To complicate things, Wayne's small bottles (same size as mine) actually state 2 doses anyway! I've now got a headache so let's let this one die a good death.

You're right, dose it really matter?!!

My mistake, I skimmed the post

Marketeers making you buy more!!

Is there any contact details on the bottle? I’d message them and see what squirmy reply you get!

The discrepancy would be enough to make me go to an alternative. When I read up on the topic generally these all contain naphtha which does the cetane boosting and cleaner burn.

Time will tell if its a waste of money!
