Yes. Brake fluid is hygroscopic. So it has a limited life.

Ah, so that’s it; mine needed changing after only 24 months from new because the van lived in for its first 9 months ️

VW changed the service schedules a couple of years ago. Brake fluid used to be from new, years 3,5,7 etc and changed it to every 2 years regardless. Different manufacturers do different things, my other vehicle was from new, year 1 then 3,5,7 etc.

Plenty of people run camper setups with gas bottles and still get serviced at VW without any issues. From what most have said, it’s never even been mentioned as a problem as long as everything’s installed properly and turned off at the bottle

If you want to play it safe, you could always take the bottle out beforehand — takes away any chance of a picky service advisor making a fuss. But realistically, it sounds like it’s rarely an issue.

Personally, I’d just make sure it’s shut off properly and leave it as is

When I looked online, VW still says 3 years from new - but they were insistent that mine needed changing after just two (which of course I had to pay for as it’s not part if their service plan). My only consolation is that by the time it needs doing in two years from now, it will be out of warranty and not going to VW again at huge expense
