Water bottle

Hi all,

My new to me T6 has a 10L water bottle under the sink in a cupboard and has an plastic ‘bung’ in the top through which the pipe to the tap sits (with the pump in the bottle obvs). Also has a blue screw cap but that obviously can’t be fitted when the water pipe is in the bottle. When there is water in the bottle some splashes over the top when driving so I assume you’re supposed to remove the pipe and fit the screw top when moving around. Then you’ve got water dripping out of the pump on to the floor. What do folk do - take the pipe out of the bottle and open the tap to let the water run out or is there a way of keeping it connected without it splashing over?

Consider fitting a larger underslung tank, you can get around 60L. Much less fuss than filling small bottles.
Converters do the the bottle in the cupboard thing because it’s the cheap, quick and easy way to get water to flow through a tap.
With the bottle gone you will have more storage space.
This is a terrible website but the tanks are good.

Got a photo, something sounds wrong

I suppose it could put a bead of silicone around the pipe entry holes?
I can’t really make out what it is but looks like a cap that sits in the top of the bottle.
Fit a cable gland for the cable and a push fit bulkhead coupling and a non return valve for the hose.
Pretty appalling set up to come from a converter.

The pump has to fit through?
To fit the cable gland disconnect the cables at the tap and thread through.
To fit the hose bulkhead fitting cut the hose and put the fitting in the middle.
Fit the NRV at the pump discharge and it wont drain down.

The whole set up is a faff unless you use very little water.
An underslung tank gives me 10+ days without needing to fill up, well worth the work.

I have a similar bottle, just bigger and there should be a screw cap without a centre that clamps the white plastic cover in place. The solid cap is for when you take it to fill the bottle up to stop detritus getting into the bottle.
Should deffo look like the one in the pic that @Salty Spuds posted above.
All you need is that screw cap.

I have a similar set up to yours, but with a 13 litre container and a couple more pieces!
A bung in the neck of the container, and a screw ring to keep the bung in place.
Like yours it is in the cupboard under the sink/bread bin and is a pain to get to when the bed is set up, so we bought a Ridgemonkey 15 litre container set up in the awning to make life easier!
Less hassle than an underslung tank, the Ridgemonkey has been a good purchase sat on an 8 inch pedestal step thing, gravity does its job, and it dispenses water well. Van water is for mid journey, tea/coffee in a carpark drinks.
Puriclean used 2 or 3 times a season to keep bacteria from building up.

The pump has to fit through?
Nope. The hose fitting fitted into the bung is a bulkhead type fitting. A “back to back” hose fitting if you like. A short piece of hose fits on the inside with the pump on one end, and the other end of the hose fits to the bulkhead fitting. The delivery hose to the tap fits on the outside of the bulkhead. The cable for the pump passes through the smaller hole. There is also a small one way breather valve to allow air into the container as water is pumped out.
