Rattling front windows

Hi all.

I get an annoying driver's side window shake/rattle when the window is down just slightly for ventilation - like about a 1-2cm gap. I seem to get similar on the passenger side but not quite as bad (but that could be down to proximity). It disappears when the gap is about 3coms or more.

I'm wondering if it is a common issue - also wondering if it is actually being caused by the way I have fitted my wind deflectors.

I know I could check if it's the wind deflectors simply by removing them but I thought I'd check here first. They are the Climair type by the way - bought after seeing them recommended here, although I was surprised to see that they needed a locating screw as any wind deflectors I've had on cars were Heko and they didn't need screws. I mention this as if it is the wind deflector causing the issue I will likely have to reposition somehow which would involve drilling another hole...

Thanks.

I have the same issue...driving me mad. I have Heko wind deflectors so it's not those.

I'm tempted to strip the door down the weekend and see if there's anything obvious causing it.

Saves me pulling off the deflectors then.

Please let me know if you manage to solve it!

mines the same rattled before and after deflectors only really notice it when shutting the door when on site with the window down a bit

Same, I’m guessing we all have 6.1 vans, .edit .oh just read it’s also earlier vans as well
Yes be good to know the fix as otherwise we could be removing door cards etc, fiddling with stuff, replacing everything a dozen times till we find the cause of the rattle.

There isn't a fix as far as I'm aware. It's just the way it's built. Maybe there's a mod but I don't know of one.

My T6 is exactly the same when the windows are down within the range of the Heko deflectors. Quite annoying but i don't have them open so often as I always have the aircon on.

Sorry old thread, but has anyone found a solution.
Fingers crossed, before my head implodes

By way of update. Had my van in with VW recently to get another issue sorted and asked them to take a look at the window issue. The guy admitted to me afterward that it was a design issue that they could do nothing about. Didn't put it in writing of course.

I’ve a T6.1 and I’ve had the issue from new. It’s just basic physics I’m afraid. When the window is down ‘a bit’, there’s nothing to support the top and leading edge of the window. Vibration makes it contact the door frame or the window deflector. (I’ve got those fitted too). Drop the window a tad more and it doesn’t contact. If mine rattles I just nudge the windows down a bit on the switch as I like them open for fresh air. I just accept it as TADTS.
Now I know it’s bugging people I’m going to look to see what I can tinker with to solve it 🙄. (Another thing on my to do list 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️).

Peoples. Can I just ask you to confirm, is this issue only with those who have wind deflectors or those without too. I’ve had my deflectors fitted pretty much from new so know no different. I’ve had a look this morning and on mine it’s where the window taps against the bottom edge of the deflector, at the wing mirror cowl. (In turn this taps against the wing mirror cowl). If it does it on those without, I too, can see how the window would tap direct on the wing mirror cowl itself. If this is the case I’ll try something later as I think I’ve got a simple idea to rectify or minimise. Please let me know.
Thanks in advance. 👍

My 6.1 is with wind deflectors fitted, and like you always had them fitted, wishing you success in finding a fix for our rattles, the passenger side never rattles on our van, very odd

Hi all, I have a 2018 T6 and my wife ( the passenger) likes a little fresh air while driving, we have NO wind deflectors and the window rattles when about 3 cm down, it drives her mad 😂 the drivers side (mine) is perfectly ok.
However I would love it if someone came up with a fix as it is abit annoying, though mildly amusing watching my wife try and find the sweet spot of no rattle 😂😂😂
