Phone Microphone Picking Up A "lot" Of Engine Noise

I was chatting to a mate whilst driving on Friday - he asked if I was following a loud motorbike - no!

His observation is that the hands free (VW standard) microphone picks up a lot of engine noise - so I'm guessing the noise travels up the front window pillars and to the microphone

Anyone else noticed this?

Would it be easy to add some sound proofing?

This is my first Transporter, Highline Kombi and if there is one real issue its the distinct lack of soundproofing!

Thoughts from the "collective"?

Have you altered the mic settings?

I had this problem after having my Hilo roof fitted. I dropped the roof light console out, stuffed all up around it with the recycled plastic bottle fleece that is used for insulating the side panels.
Seems to be a lot better now.

Think so ......... I turned it down recently to remove the "echo"

Yep, you could probably do it by just popping the blank panel out and then stuffing the insulation up behind the unit.
