Hi Can anyone advise me about this ... it’s just a one off knock sound coming from the front of the van ... very similar to the sound of driving slowly over a man hole cover . It only happens when I have the steeering tightly locked to reverse into a parking space or around a corner .. I’ve only recently noticed it after having a full service done .
Im wondering if it’s normal or I should take it in to the garage and get them to check it out

@osman from how you’ve described it sounds like a CV joint, worth getting it checked out at a garage. Normally the joint will make the noise on one lock but not the other.

Ok so If it’s on just one side that’s ok ? Or rather that means that sides cv joint is not ok ? I’m surprised this was not picked up during its very recent full service .

The latter, it sounds like one of your CV joints needs replacing. They often only show up in the early stages of failure when on full lock.

Ok that’s great info ..i was fooled for quite a while with a man hole cover I regularly had to reverse over (makes the same sound) but I just noticed it in a car park recently and a second time today ... hopefully the 2 year extra parts insurance I took out when I bought the van will cover it ... probably not of course ! ... but I’m happy to get this sorted sooner than later ...
