Insurance woes on partially-converted van

Hi,

New to the forum and just embarked on our T6 Transformation journey. My first of many questions...We need to get insurance before we start the modifications at the moment is its a standard T6 T32 Kombi. Is it worth staying clear of the "high street" insurers as we'll adding on modifications or is it all much the same? The best quote so far is with One Call Direct via a comparison site. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks
Martin

Best go for specialist brokers who will cover you while converting. Think there is a time limit though for how long you have to finish the conversion.

I went with A-plan from the start on a modified van policy, then as each mod was made just gave them a call to get them to add it into their notes.
Possibly not what you’d classify as a specialist insurer like Adrian Flux etc.

I tried a plan and brentacre, brentacre were around half the price of a plan for a slightly better policy.

I'm covered for an ongoing conversion and any I add I just need to call them to add it to the policy, apart from power increases or signficant expensive changes ( pop top for instance ) the price is the same.

2nd that, I’m with brentacre too

Brentacre for me too. Great price and so easy to deal with.

As mentioned, just a call or email for any future modification that is not performance enhancing.

Newbie to the forum and the van scene :)

Can anyone recommend a good insurance company for my van? Currently just a panel van however will be converting to a kombi day van shortly so needs to be a company that accepts modifications etc

Love the forum, great source of information!

Thanks in advance

LV are good value and a good go to option. But there are others too. Take a look at these threads:

If you stay in a rural setting try N.F.U. Or try brentacre very decent and don’t charge for extras . Unless you get the van remapped or any engine mods.

Hi Guy's, I've just bought a partially converted T6.1 & I'm having lots of hassel from the insurance company over the mods has any one had similar problems or know any company's who understand the mods we do to our vans

Hi and welcome!

A quick search of the forum for the term “insurance” and “partial” will give you many pointers!
