Exactly as I said.Well glory be.
LV's quote here - 865 quid - down from £1443.00 last year. Just got to see what Admiral's renewal is now....

Yeh absolutely rigged innit.Exactly as I said.

Atleast your not South LondonYeh absolutely rigged innit.
Actually just beat LV with Brentacre - down to £810.00 all mods etc. Happy with that for East London.
I've had the same happen with my three daughters cars, it's handy for me because I do all the maintenance on them anyway. My son used a comparison site to get a quote for car insurance, then added me as a named driver, price went down, then added his mum as a second named driver, went down again !!!
If I didn't use my daughters Fart 500 it would put unnecessary miles on the van...I've had the same happen with my three daughters cars, it's handy for me because I do all the maintenance on them anyway.
Perhaps young drivers are more careful if Mum and Dad also use their cars sometimes?
My experience says either this is no longer ‘a thing’ or the insurers just bump up prices for anyone applying 28 days in advance.Admittedly, after I forgot about the 28 day thing...
Just renewed mine with CG. It increased slightly from last year as I’ve now protected 5 years NCD. No other company came close. Odd that they won’t give a discount for a Ghost but give one for my Stoplock Prothird year running with Caravan Guard. Market value policy with mileage increased from 8 to 12k and £450 excess. Comes out at £465 annually
its a shame my Ghost Immobiliser is not recognised and is unlikely to be so in the near future.
The Ghost doesn't qualify for discounts because it lacks Thatcham-certification and it lacks certification because its CAN-Bus technology doesn't meet the certification criteria used (and understood) by Thatcham.Odd that they won’t give a discount for a Ghost but give one for my Stoplock Pro![]()
love the analogy. Thatcham need to move with the timesThe Ghost doesn't qualify for discounts because it lacks Thatcham-certification and it lacks certification because its CAN-Bus technology doesn't meet the certification criteria used (and understood) by Thatcham.
It's analagous to asking a firearms expert to assess a laser-blaster - they're simply not qualified to do so.
I appreciate that's not a satisfactory answer, but it is the answer.
some of the work on my Rico Revolution conversion was dubious. Believe they no longer operate.Just renewed mine with CG. It increased slightly from last year as I’ve now protected 5 years NCD. No other company came close. Odd that they won’t give a discount for a Ghost but give one for my Stoplock Pro
The only downside for me is they’ll only cover work done by an approved company (even crap ones like the converter who did mine) but won’t allow DIY mods or even let me remove the fixed cooker as they won’t class it as a camper van without fixed cooking. I can live with that due to the much cheaper cost
Like everything in the UK, it’s a scam.I'm having a wild time trying to get insurance quotes at the moment. Part of the issue is that I've had 2 claims in a work vehicle on work insurance in close proximity in 2024.
I'm looking at buying a van currently and having a day van conversion inside...... total cost about £45K
Admiral - disclosed the accidents to - £900
Sterling - Dislcosed the accidents to, they said they wouldn't count them - £850
Just Kampers - Disclosed accidents to - £1300
Adrian Flux - Initially enquired with business use on, £1400, asked them to take business use off - refused to as I'd declared business use (even though I said I'd use a different vehicle)
Refused to quote: Brentacre, Howdens.
Why is it this overly complicated?
