Hi all

So my small turbo has given up and snapped the shaft on my t6 204 sportline

So question is do I hybrid them?

Tdi turbos have said they can do them and will send a courier tomorrow

Good for 300bhp I believe

Anyone done this?

Also does anyone know the maximum flow rate = bhp the injectors will take

Thanks in advance
Jon

how many miles on the van?

why did it go pop?

was it mapped before or stock?

what exactly are you looking to do with "TDI Turbo"

you talking about replacing the damaged BiTurbo with a different unit?

Full vw history 36k

Bought like it last week with a boosting issue. I imported it from Republic of Ireland (I live there aswell as uk) which I've done over 25 transporters.

The cause is beyond me

I have taken it apart today and not one bolt on the van has been touched.
Not the slightest bit of oil residue in the pipework
Brand new cambelt only fitted 1k ago by vw

Van is not remapped yet but I have already taken out the add blue egr and dpf.

Darkside developments dpf replacement exhaust system

Tdi turbos will rebuild my old units, or rebuild them as hybrids.
Was told they will do 300bhp with ease, but as we know there is more to it then that.

I have no idea what the injectors will run for starters.

Whats your thoughts

2 questions
1. What is the hybrid turbo? One electric?
2. How will you pass an MOT without the DPF?

Do Darkside do a hybrid for it? My lad has an ex Darkside Fabia that makes around 240 horsepower. It's been faultless. They build some good kit.

@Loz The process is using components from other turbochargers into either stock or modified original housings. The mating of these different parts is referred to as hybrid-ing.

The Fabia has no cat. Him working at the test center aside, he told the tester that it was 2022, and his downpipe had chosen to identify as a cat.

Okay, I get it, a Hybrid of parts not a hybrid of technology..

I've often thought that an electrically driven LP turbo from a Li power pack charged with the regen, like F1 cars have would be cool.

1. Hybrid meaning, honed out turbo casing and bigger turbines put in.
Bigger horse power and torque
Better flow rates

2. The mot is never going to be a issue for me here in the UK if I was to get it MOTed.... say no more.
It will not need a uk mot here anyway as its Republic of Ireland registered and will stay like that.

I'm a citizen of ireland so changing it over to UK plates is something I don't have to do.

To be honest I don't think darkside offer anything hybrid... correct me if I'm wrong.

They rather sell bigger turbos with adapters or custom manifolds

I'm sure I heard them say in a YouTube vid that they don't mess with hybrids

Either way, they are not a turbo specialist. Yes they can sell them and give info but it takes a different skill and machinery to rebuild or hybrid turbos.

Problem with the t6 is its to new and I can't see anyone making a custom manifold to allow two different bigger turbos built into all the complications of a bitdi

Its far easier to have them built as hybrids and bolt back into the original position as the original ones.

I been checking figures today and seems that hybrids will make over 300 easily

Like I said before, I don't know the flow rates of these new t6s

Hopefully someone can tell us what bhp area the original injectors will run out of poke or the injection pump?
