Well after having 4 tyres last me 5000 miles I have replaced all 4 with decent rubber and am booked into the workshop for Hunter 4 wheel alignment.
Not knowing how experienced this workshop is with campers I would like to give them some suggested target adjustments to make.
Does the below settings sound about right?
I have taken this from a combination of my own research across forums, my own mechanical knowledge and of course Google AI to assist with research!
VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS:
1. MACHINE PROFILE Selection
Please DO NOT use the standard commercial/panel van database profile.
Select Profile: VW Transporter Sportline OR Lowered Chassis (PR-2MD / PR-2MK).
Load Rating: Treat as a No-Load / Empty Vehicle setup. (Do not apply factory automated half-load calculations, as the camper conversion weight is static).
2. REAR AXLE TARGETS (CRITICAL FOR TYRE WEAR)
Rear Camber: This vehicle has a fixed rear axle with no factory camber adjustment. Expect a natural heavy negative drop (-2°10' to -2°50'). Leave as-is.
Rear Toe: To counteract the negative camber and stop inner-edge scrubbing, please dial the toe to the maximum positive limit (Toe-In).
Target Individual Toe: +0°10' (Per side)
Target Total Rear Toe: +0°20'
3. FRONT AXLE TARGETS
Steering Wheel: Please center using a spirit level and lock with the steering clamp before adjusting track rods.
Front Camber: Also non adjustable, expect higher negative readings.
Front Toe: Adjust to a positive toe-in setting to stabilize the wide 265-section tyres.
Target Individual Toe: +0°05' (Per side)
Target Total Front Toe: +0°10' (Toe-In)
4. FINAL SIGN-OFF CHECK
Thrust Angle is at 0°00' (±0°02').
Final Front Total Toe is positive (+0°10').
Final Rear Total Toe is positive (+0°20').
If anyone has any thoughts or recommendations in this other than I'm probably gonna piss off the technician please let me know!
