How to fit electrics prior to kitchen

Just wondering how and where people fix there electric hookup rcd and 12v fuse box without having a kitchen or knowing what kitchen units they will have ..

My 12v battery is under drivers seat and pmanij gin using the stealth flap at rear for ehu

Any pictures would be awesome
Essentially I can afford to get electrics done at present but not the kitchen lol

A good rule of thumb is to have your RCD near where your EHU comes into the van and your 12v fuse box near your leisure battery to minimise cable runs between them. You could alway wire in some slack so that when you install your units you have some leeway

Do you have the dimensions of the kitchen you are going to install?

When i did mine, i went the same path; put the electrics in first, leisure battery under the drivers seat, EHU under the rear light and the consumer unit on the right. For me, i looked at the kitchen dimensions and measured where i wanted it to go and where it would likely land. I also allowed some wiggle room in the cabling to give me the space to adjust if needed.

When i installed the kitchen i then did some minor changes and my final tidying up.

Awesome thanks no That’s my dilemma I don’t know what kitchen will eventually fit so try to put things in a position that look tidy and the. With a bit of adjustment kitchen will fit lol … and thanks again exactly type of thing was after

Ideally I want my fuse box not in my driver seat so I can run cables neatly in ceiling, is running 12v fuse box to rear a big no no ?

i don't know tbh... it's what i did so that i can could get easy access to change fuses.

If i was to do it again, and was in your position, i'd likely just have my wiring floating on the floor on the right hand side, somewhere towards the wheel arch until you get the kitchen, then you can just move everything up into position when you are ready if that makes sense. I tried to make sure that all my wires were hidden behind panels, but in reality once the kitchen is in you won't see them anyway. So yeah... wire everything up, leave your consumer unit and 12v fuse box on the floor and allow plenty of slack to allow you to reposition once you have the kitchen.

I am sure someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in with additional advise.

Electric hookup - mine is under the bonnet, next to the battery. There’s enough space there to get two RCBO in as well, one for charger and one for kitchen.

Fusebox - I have a main one under the seat next to the battery. From there I have some 6mm2 cable running through to the back of the van on each side. On the left I have another Fusebox for rear cabin lights and USB sockets. On the right I will have a small one for cooker ignition, pump and water gauge.

Have a look on the forum for Under the bonnet EHU. It removes the need to drill the outside of the van and add a plastic external flap cover . I put mine under the bonnet . Route the EHU cable through the bulkhead with grommets into the cab. There is sufficent space to put your electrics under the passenger seat

I am a bit confused about the swivel on the passenger seat . As you already have electrics under the seat with a VW cable harness and fuse holder fixed under the Passenger seat ? Do you have a separate plate for the seat base swivel , that sits on top of the existing seat base? If so , only the plate swivels as it is fixed to the seat base which is fixed to the floor ? If you put electrics under the passenger seat you only have a short run to put cable under the floor mat and run this to your battery under the drivers side seat base ? When you lift up the floor mat you will see how the VW cable looms are routed under the floor mat into the seat base. Another point to consider is that there are standard earth points already installed under the seat bases. Hope that helps

All vw electrics are hidden in floor channel and then the plate sits on top which the seat base fits to ..
