Healthy 180 CFCA owners?

I’m just curious how many ‘Healthy’ 180 CFCA owners are out lurking on the forums?

I am somewhat relieved, and cautiously optimistic that our 180 (EGR revision D) is currently in good health at 92k with little to no oil usage between services.

But, I’m sure like many others, we have fluctuating levels of anxiety due to all the numerous posts out there re: oil consumption and EGR issues. In an effort to help counter the effects of confirmation bias, and gain/restore some reassurance, I’m wondering if there are many users with a healthy 180 CFCA engines on here?

Mines still going strong but I highly recommend a regular oil analysis.

Just bought a 2015 T6 180 with 50,000 miles, regular oil changes regardless of low annual mileage done. Rev C EGR .... contemplating pre-emptive replacement.

I would recommend blanking off and fit a tafmet emulator. Cheaper and removes the issues.

Thanks. Would a replacement Rev D cooler be wise before any blanking off activity?

Just ordered a Millers Oils analysis kit as current oil has been in the engine for a few thousand miles.

No, if you are blanking off with the Tafmet kit the EGR will be bolted to the engine but totally inactive. In addition the Rev D isn’t a 100% fix.

Just done mine and the comments were "Wear metal analysis reveals high Aluminium, consistent with the well known EGR cooler corrosion issue sometimes seen with VW 2.0 L BiTDI 180 hpCFCA engines. Soot is at a 'caution' level, likely also EGR related." Best get an oil change and look at blanking off and Tafmet solution soon.
 
Just installed the Darkside Developments EGR delete plates with an Autotech Tuning remap out of the EGR valve plus engine and DSG. Instantly the engine and box feels livelier in throttle response and torque. Monitoring the oil situation. No loss in oil over the last 1000+ miles. Will send another sample to Millers soon.
 
I've had my van for around 3 years and I also had quite a high level of anxiety over the egr/oil consumption issues as I thought I had done a bit of research before buying, however I didn't come across the full extent of the EGR info until after I had the van in my hot little hands.

I then had the egr blanked and tuned out asap at about 3 months after purchase. I have put about 30k on it, sitting just shy of 100k on her total, I've driven brisbane to adelaide a few times and not had any oil consumption on those trips or just on normal commuting (touch wood) and both my oil analysis have come back ok.

Hi, I have spoken with Retro Resus regarding EGR blank they do this and include a remap and delete. I was wondering if there are any other garage specialists like them in the south east Surrey area as it is a bit of a trek to Somerset from here.

If you have a 180ps there is a far easier and cheaper solution which can be quickly reversed. Search on Tafmet.

Your comment read, "How many variants are there? I’m only aware of one Euro5 engine - CFCA"

I'm only pointing out that CFCA is not the only Euro 5 engine in T6's.

nice journey up. I have done it a few times from KT7, and take a bike, or hiking gear or camping gear and head to the Quantock's just around the corner :)
