Take your time, these trims ate not cheap to replace.
Also if you are looking to change the bottom gloss black piece of trim, nows the time to do it, has it is clipped in from behind.
Thanks to you all, I was recently able to retrofit a multifunction steering wheel from a VW Passat B8 (3G0419089BD w. 5 pinout) into my 2020 T6.1.
Unfortunately, I'm currently stuck with the steering wheel coding.
Initial setup:
Previously, the vehicle had a MFA (Multi-Function Display) but no cruise control (GRA), and no ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control). There is also no control unit for A5 Driver Assistance or 13 Adaptive Cruise Control.
Old vs New
My question:
Is there still a way to code cruise control (GRA)? Do I need an additional wiring harness for it?
Tiptronic is working out of the box
Not sure those buttons will work. On the T6 ACC buttons would not work in a van with normal Cruise control (CCS/GRA). This was due to the linbus signals that where sent by the buttons and how the van interpreted these.
I suspect the same would apply to a T6.1, that said I can't be 100% sure as I've never seen a T6.1 without ACC I thought that was a standard feature.
Did the wiring slightly differently, removed the brown wire and moved the pin line you did.
But I swapped the blue/white horn wire over from the T6 loom into the Golf Airbag loom, saves any messing with the black plug terminals.
Just waiting on a steering wheel trim before fitting it properly.
Hi there.
I'm very keen on installing a heated steering wheel in my 2023 T6.1
If I was to do it your way, what else do I need to buy apart from the wheels itself?
I have a guy to help me with the electronic side of the project.
I'm new to this forum. I have a 2020 T6.1 Bulli 150hp DSG and I would like to add DSG paddles. I have the opportunity to buy this steering wheel for only €75; apparently, it came out of a Passat B8.5.
I don't really mind if the heating function doesn't work, but I've noticed that the connector for the airbag loom is 6 pins, while the steering wheel in my T6.1 has a 5-pin connector. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've seen that most people are going back to a 5-pin connector, but it seems like I need to do the opposite.
today I tried again to code the cruise control system via the steering wheel. For that, I coded ECU 01: Set Byte 05. Now I can at least activate and deactivate the cruise control in the instrument cluster, but there’s still an exclamation mark next to it (+ 2x errors regarding "Cruise Control Set Signal").
Does anyone have an idea what else might be missing?
After many attempts and purchasing numerous buttons, I finally managed to install the steering wheel from a Golf GTI and activate ACC as well as the paddle shifters.
Hi, im currently trying to fit my golf r haptic steering wheel, Iv followed the guide and no matter what I do I can’t get it to work. It comes on and seems that it’s working but when I remove the key the steering wheel stays lit and never goes off. If I turn the ignition back on again it still stays lit but doesn’t do anything at all, unless completely unplugged and plugged back in. The van is a t6.1 caravelle fully loaded.
