T6.1 Coding after steering wheel upgrade with paddles

Hello,

I swapped the steering wheel in the T6.1 MY 2021 for a version with shift paddles.

  • Current steering wheel without shift paddles: 3G0 959 442 N
  • New steering wheel with shift paddles: 3G0 959 442 AB

  • The coding of the current steering wheel is: 2C0D00
  • The coding of the new steering wheel is: 2D8400

After installation, I received communication error messages. Following this, I used VCDS to assign the new steering wheel the coding of the old steering wheel, namely 2C0D00.

With this coding, there are no more error codes. Also, all functions of the steering wheel work, including the shift paddles.

Two questions:

1. Are the 'off +' and '-' on the shift paddles supposed to be illuminated? In my case, they are not.

2. Although everything works, I am wondering if the coding is correct. Because the extended label file is not available for this module in VCDS, does anyone have an overview of which bytes and bits correspond to which setting of these steering wheels?

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what al the coding is but as a reference I have a T6.1 2022 with Multifunction steering wheel without paddles with following info on VCDS:

Multifunction steering wheel control module:
Subsystem 2 - Part No SW: 3G0 959 442 AH HW: 3G0 959 442 AH Labels: 3C8-959-537.CLB
Component: E221__MFL-PR6 H50 0500
Serial number: PR6-0440071216213030
Coding: 280C00

Not sure if that is any help or just more confusing for you.

Hi buddy, so to clear a few things up paddles dont illuminate on the wheel.

As for coding this is possibly more luck than anything as we've done alsorts of wheels front straight swaps to Heated wheels with extended flappy paddles with haptic buttons and often have to experiment with the coding to get it right.

VCDS is a bit out of date in this area as the lbl files don't list what the bytes do. Some other softwares do but not in the case of VCDS.

As long as there's no faults in any of the modules and everything works in our experience your golden buddy

Here are a few bits from my current steering wheel Long Code. Byte 29 is definitely 40 (*6 is on) for the LIN connection and the Submodule 0631, also known as 221 Steering Wheel buttons, coding with Long Code = 290000 (*I was playing with 291000). The majority of buttons work, including the DSG paddles (*however, the gearbox needs a manual reset/off in order to fall back into D/S mode), but the phone buttons don't work well. If you have similar settings or a similar setup, please let me know your suggestions regarding DSG Long Code paddles and/or phone buttons?
